In each month, one wind is successively emitted, thereby gradually generating the power of the ten winds. Now, the five root winds are the basis for the five aggregates, and the five branch winds are the basis for the five faculties, thus enabling all activities such as the body's existence, movement, speech, and excretion of urine and feces. The final absorption is based on a person living to be one hundred years old. From birth to the age of ten, the power of the Norle Gyal (Wealth Victorious) wind is absorbed into the Lhas Jin (Heavenly Gift) wind, and so on. Every ten years, the power of one wind is absorbed. Here, some commentators say that initially, during generation, the downward-clearing wind arises from the life wind, and the upward-moving wind arises from the downward-clearing wind, and so on, with each subsequent wind arising from the previous one. During the absorption process, it is said that at the age of ten, the Norle Gyal (Wealth Victorious) wind dissolves into the Lhas Jin (Heavenly Gift) wind, which contradicts the self-commentary and is not supported by reason. Dakpo Rinpoche and Trinley Zhab have explained it well, which should also be understood. However, even in Trinley's commentary, there seem to be errors in the text in these places. Secondly, this is stated in the Wisdom Vajra: "The nature of mind, clear light, is the wisdom wind; the alaya is space, together with the afflicted mind; formation is wind, feeling is fire; perception is water, form is earth; successively, they are said to be the generated and the generator." Thus, the manner of generating and absorbing the winds is to combine the five aggregates and the winds. The meaning stated in the Wisdom Vajra Collected Tantra is this: The nature of mind, naturally clear, is the wind of wisdom, which is also called the "Great Emptiness." From that, the alaya consciousness, with the characteristic of dark appearance, together with the afflicted mind, is the wind of space. Arising from that dark appearance, together with the afflicted mind's formation, because it is of a moving nature, it is the wind of wind. From that arising, the collection of the six aggregates of near attainment appears, so feeling is the wind of fire that burns the continuum. Perception is grasping the characteristics of objects and collecting them, so it is the wind of water. Form is hardness and stability, and so on, so it is the wind of earth. Thus, the five elements and the five aggregates are said to be the five aggregates as the generated and the five elements as the generator. That is it.

The way in which consciousness enters and gathers is as follows: From the clear light of emptiness, the appearance of darkness arises, which is the wind element that is nearly attained. From that, the appearance of appearing as an object arises, which is the fire element. From that, the appearance of grasping the characteristics of an object arises, which is the water element. From that, the gross appearance of the aggregate element and so on arises in sequence as the earth element. When gathering, it also dissolves in sequence from the gross appearance to the clear light of emptiness. As stated in the Root Tantra: "The four elements, such as earth, and the four emptinesses, are the cause of arising and ceasing. The eight entities are consciousness." Therefore, it is said. Second, explaining the abiding, function, and activity, there are three parts: brief indication, detailed explanation, and summary of the meaning. The first part is: "Now the body abides and performs activities." This is one line. Having developed for ten months in this way, now the upper and lower parts of the body abide accordingly, and the manner in which all activities are performed will be explained in detail below. The second part is divided into two parts: the abiding, function, and activity of the five root winds and the five branch winds. The first part has five: the life wind, the downward-clearing wind, the fire-equalizing wind, the upward-moving wind, and the pervasive wind, along with their abiding, function, and activity. The first is: In general, although the body is all-pervasive, the root central channel is the life wind. It abides in the center and serves as the basis for everything. It is called the Lord of Space. At the time of death, it runs accurately. Now it generates self-grasping and memory. If it goes wrong, it causes fainting, madness, and death. It exists mixed with karma and wisdom. Its color is described as being like space. It is said that the life wind, in general terms, pervades all parts of the body, both upper and lower, down to the ends of the pores. However, the root of all channels relies on the central channel, and that great life wind, the root of all ten winds, mainly abides in the center of the body, in an upright position, serving as the basis and support for everything. The way it moves is by mixing with the winds of partial seasons. Mainly, at the time of death, it travels twenty-one thousand six hundred times in one day and night. As stated in the Compendium: "The wind called the Lord of Space, which is the nature of Vairochana, runs accurately outward from the central channel at the time of death."
