The delusion of the six consciousnesses. Where does it delude? It deludes in the appearance of various objects. How does it delude? It deludes by the way that self-grasping enters into oneself, not recognizing one's own nature, and grasping oneself as a different entity to be grasped. From what causes and conditions does it delude? It deludes from the movement of the mind. That is, as just explained, the mind and mind move each other, and thus are confused about union. In the aspect of appearance, it clings to the objects to be grasped, such as the six objects of form, etc.; in the aspect of emptiness, it clings to the mind that grasps, such as the six consciousnesses of the eye, etc. Although there is no object to be grasped other than oneself, the grasping self deliberately points to itself, grasping and seizing itself, and thus enters into duality, which is the delusion of grasping the non-duality of appearance and emptiness as two. Connected to this, the dependent arising of the aggregation of object, faculty, and consciousness gives rise to the awareness of appearances such as form. From this, the appearance of objects such as form expands. Therefore, connected with the discriminating mind, one is able to see the meaning of form, etc., which is called obtaining appearance. Therefore, the appearance of the six aggregates, in that moment of its own nature, there is no delusion, but from then on, the mind mistakes its own appearance part for an external object, and thus various deluded thoughts flow, and from the appearance part, the six objects such as form are grasped as external objects, and thus the consciousness that grasps this arises. This is the delusion of various causes and conditions. Therefore, the three, appearance, increase, and attainment, dissolve into the clear light, and thus the Dharmakaya is manifested. And from the ground clear light, the three, appearance, increase, and attainment, arise in sequence, and thus the deluded appearance of samsara arises, which is the profound essence of the Vajrayana. The way in which the six aggregates arise in delusion is explained from the aspect of the power of the twelve links of dependent arising. Therefore, in the commentary it is said that this is the dependent arising that distinguishes self-nature. Relying on this dependent arising, distinguishing suffering is the dependent arising of the happy realms, and distinguishing unpleasantness is the dependent arising of the twelve links of the unhappy realms. That is, driven by ignorance, the creation of contaminated karma is due to the movement like water and waves. Due to the condition of that creation, for the six objects such as form

Since the arising of consciousness that sees it as "I" depends entirely on the cause of fundamental ignorance, all appearances of consciousness are merely illusory appearances. The second is: From actions of acceptance and rejection, feelings arise; grasping at characteristics is perception; fabricated objects are labeled as other; attachment forms the aggregate of form. As it is said, in this way, the first of the coarse illusory appearances that arise from the increase of habitual appearances is consciousness. Therefore, here, the aggregate of consciousness is taught first among the five aggregates. That consciousness, because it perceives objects as pleasant, unpleasant, etc., then discriminates between these three as acceptance, rejection, and neutrality, therefore the collection of three feelings arises. After that is the aggregate of feeling, and from this, by grasping at the characteristics of the object's self and difference, the aggregate of perception is formed, so after that is perception. Thus, for various objects, pleasant and unpleasant, distinguishing subtle differences like hairs, various appearances are manifestly fabricated, and different object appearances are labeled as other than oneself, therefore the collections of mental events that appear are formed, so after that is formation. This formation solidifies the habitual tendencies of objects labeled as other, and then attachment arises towards the nature and characteristics of form, etc., therefore the aggregate of form is formed, so this is taught after the aggregates. This order is the order of birth, which is called the order of cause and effect. Third, explaining the difference between cause and condition, there are two: explaining six causes, and explaining four conditions. The first is: Five elements and consciousness are six, named as cause by thought. As it is said, the five elements of earth, water, fire, wind, and space, and the element of consciousness, these six are the cause of all phenomena included in inner and outer, and samsara and nirvana. This is a name made in the presence of those with conceptual thought, but for those who are free from conceptual thought, the elaboration of cause and effect is only pacification. Their characteristics are, in order, hard and stable, moist and wet, hot and burning, light and moving, empty and open, and the characteristic of consciousness is as previously stated. The second is divided into four: causal condition, self-condition.
