The meaning of the two stages of generation and completion, which are examined by yogis, is that having faith in the lineage is scriptural validity, then having faith in the teacher is inferential validity, and then having faith in one's own experience is direct perception. Through these three validities, one knows well, and possesses the close cause, the essence of the Sugata, and the accompanying condition, the two Bodhicittas, relying on one's own mindstream, and possessing abundant virtuous qualities of intention such as faith and reverence. Then, dividing a session into four sessions, etc., one engages in recitation practice in sessions, and continuously engages in constant practice of diligence in a secluded place, which is practice. Those who possess these are those on the path of accumulation. In the common vehicle, the small path of accumulation involves cultivating the four mindfulnesses, the intermediate involves cultivating the four right abandonments, and the great involves cultivating the four legs of miraculous powers, etc. It is also said that one cultivates deity yoga at this time. In the great path of accumulation, "Then, from the stream of Dharma, in order to attain vast wisdom, one will receive quiescence and vast instructions from the Buddhas." This also contains this meaning. The diligence of constant practice is the samadhi of the stream of Dharma, and the lama who possesses the signs is the incarnate body of the Buddha that appears to oneself. Receiving instructions from him is the meaning of receiving instructions from the Buddhas. In the Mahayana path of accumulation, although it is mainly based on hearing and thinking, there is also meditation-born wisdom. Therefore, the scriptures say, "Know the root well, believe and practice." As a knowable, the self-commentary quotes the teachings of Vimalamitra, because in this stage of the path of accumulation, it is established by mainly practicing the withdrawal branch of the six-branch yoga. Abiding in such a path of accumulation also comes from practicing well in many lifetimes before entering the path. The yogini practitioner said, "Generating true faith, abiding in diligent yoga, in millions of eons, it is urged by my wisdom." Thus it is said. The second is, after understanding the key points of the channels, winds, and bindus, after obtaining the warmth and bliss of the place of Samantabhadra's conduct, one abides in the path of application.

Through the conduct of a yogi, one proceeds on the path of application and enters the path of seeing. This is the path of individual collection and possessing the four dhyanas, and it is also said that the root is purification. It is said that by perfecting the limbs of dhyana, one obtains the five supernormal knowledges. One enters the mandala of the body. Thus it is said that on top of the former, one knows well the key points of the binding of the channels, winds, and bindus, and continuously cultivates the experience of the completion stage, like wisdom, is the conduct of Samantabhadra, and by abiding in this, from the attainment of the experience of bliss, clarity, and non-discrimination, represented by the sign of heat, it is the proximate cause for entering the path of seeing, so one abides in the path of application itself. The boundary of the path of application is from the beginning of entering into a special experience of the completion stage. The meaning of the word is: because it is the path that truly leads to the path of seeing, it is the path of application, and the ability to quickly generate the path of seeing manifests, so it is called heat. Here are other signs of heat. In the "Two Examinations Tantra," it says: "Fear, madness, as well as suffering, sorrow, distress, and old age." It says that not being harmed by these is a sign of small heat. Great desire, hatred, and delusion, the practitioner is not defiled by afflictions. It says that even afflictions caused by great causes cannot harm one, which is a sign of medium heat. The results of benefit and harm arise. It is said that the fruit of samadhi, such as the accomplishment of aspects of supernormal powers and magical abilities, is a sign of great heat. These three are also the same in essence as the three points of heat, peak, and forbearance spoken of in the Paramita Vehicle. At the time of obtaining heat, there are two kinds of behavior to increase and purify it, namely with signs and without signs. With signs is mixing with external conditions, relying on the first three mudras, the conduct of a yogi, by conduct gradually proceeding on those paths of application, and entering the path of seeing. If one does not want to do the behavior with signs, then one can also purify that path by relying on the very signless inner behavior, namely the Great Seal, as it is said in the tantras. The nature of this path of application is the key instruction of individually collecting conceptual thoughts and one-pointedness of mind.
