Realized wisdom is said to be the means of purification, thus the two truths are related as means and result. Without relying on conventions, the ultimate truth cannot be shown. Without relying on the ultimate truth, nirvana cannot be attained. As Nagarjuna said. That is to say, just as the appearance of conventional truth, by accumulating the merit of skillful means, the power of wisdom increases. Through that wisdom, in accordance with the ultimate truth of reality, by abiding in the collection of wisdom, the wisdom born of meditation arises, and merit can also be further increased. For example, in a dream, knowing that the dream has no inherent nature, one can transform and manifest. Secondly, there are two aspects to abandoning the mistaken wrong thoughts due to not understanding that principle: the outsiders and the lower vehicle. The first is: all the tenets of Brahma and others are knowable objects made by conceptual thought. Holding onto causes and conditions, having or not having, etc., various views are said to arise dependent on the grasping and the grasped of body and mind. As it is said, the heretical Brahma followers, and within the "etc.", the Vaishnava, the Ishvara, the divine guru Purusha, the Ramana, the Samkhya, and the Nirgrantha schools, all their tenets are false knowledge fabricated and created solely by conceptual thought. Therefore, the detailed methods of refuting these are extensively explained in the treatises on logic. Therefore, the Samkhya, who contemplate the relationship of having causes and conditions and aggregation, fall into the extreme of permanence. And the Charvakas, who hold that there is no past or future life, fall into the extreme of annihilation, that is, all that is generated by the sixty-two heretical wrong views can be summarized into these two assertions of permanence and annihilation. Thus, all kinds of wrong views arise dependent on the grasping and the grasped of body and mind, as the Bhagavan said in the Brahma-jala Sutra, and those wrong views that speak of self due to delusion should be refuted by the Bodhisattva Pages 401 to 500 Courageous and wise ones with scripture and reason, thereby guiding them to the correct view. Secondly, there are three aspects to abandoning the wrong thoughts posited by the lower vehicle: generally refuting the views of the two Hinayana schools, specifically refuting the self posited by the Vatsiputriya school, and showing the order of abandonment and antidotes. The first is: the atoms of the outsiders and the Vaisheshika.

The power of mind and its objects, due to not realizing its potential. However, to refute the agent such as self, the Victorious One has spoken. Thus it is said. The view of the two Hearer schools of our own tradition is that the external world and so on are made of particles that are different from the mind, and they consider them to be truly existent. When the gross is formed, the particles touch each other but do not stick together, with gaps like a yak tail and a willow branch, and without gaps like a book and a pile of barley. They believe that they exist by being gathered together by the wind that gathers them. When appearing to the sense consciousness, the Vaibhashikas believe that there is no appearance in between, and that the manifest is nakedly without appearance. The Sautrantikas, on the other hand, believe that the actual particles do not appear to the sense consciousness, but that the appearance of the subtle particles appears like a hand and head inside a garment, like a mole inside a garment. Both of these views are that the aspect of appearing as various objects from the transformation of the habits together with the mind that is the basis of all, is a delusion of perceiving it as something else due to not realizing that the power comes from the habits. It is not truly existent as something other than the mind, because all the conventional appearances that arise in the appearance of sentient beings arise from confused habits. However, in order to refute the belief in an agent such as self and Ishvara, the Victorious One has spoken as if the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, which are collections of subtle particles, and so on, exist as external objects with their own characteristics, but it should be understood that this was spoken according to the intention. As it is said in the Commentary on the Awakening Mind: In order to reverse the clinging to self, the aggregates, elements, etc. are taught. Thus it is said. The second is: Self and person are said to be imputed. There is not even a particle of truly established substance. If there were, there would be liberation without effort, or it would become a fault of no liberation. Thus it is taught. Some of our own tradition, such as the Vatsiputriyas, say in the sutra: Monks, there is a burden. The one who bears the burden is the person. Relying on this, the acceptance of an inexpressible self of the person is not reasonable. Because self and person, etc., are only imputed names that are fabricated by conceptual thought, and there is not even a particle of truly established substance. If it exists, then the self is on the side of liberation.
