That which is the entirely secret inner meaning along with the methods of all the Kriya, Charya, and Yoga Tantras, is that which the Victorious Vajradhara has perfectly distinguished into the unsurpassed Father and Mother Tantras. If it is explained from there, what is the use of repeating it here? Because in those, there are those that need to be comprehended and those that do not, those of provisional meaning and those of definitive meaning, those that are literal and those that are non-literal, these six limits; and bound tightly by the vajra words of the four modes: letters, common, hidden, and ultimate. That profound meaning within the body and mind is not the domain of the logicians such as the Shravakas, wanderers, and Charakas of the outsiders, and the Vaibhashikas of the insiders. Moreover, it is also very secret to the beginners who have entered the Paramitayana and those who are devoted only to emptiness. Because they do not understand it, it remains self-secret. Although the Buddha did not conceal the Dharma, because all the teachings are suitable for the disposition, capacity, and fortune of the trainees, it remains self-secret to those of inferior fortune. In order to prevent those of inferior faculties from turning away from the Dharma, to prevent those blessed by demons, and to prevent the self-righteous who are proud of their knowledge from acting arbitrarily, the profound meanings of the Tantras are hidden in the treasure chest of vajra words. So, what is the meaning of such an expression? It is the co-emergent wisdom of the nature of the mind, and the signs and marks that appear in the self-light of the nature of the body. It is explained here in order to clearly realize that the two bodies of body and mind have a similar cause. This verse also shows that the profound inner meaning is not understood by others except for those who are the most fortunate of the trainees. The first of the six limits mentioned earlier, that which needs to be comprehended, also has three: comprehending the time, comprehending the meaning, and comprehending the thought. The first is, for example, when the twelve winds cease and Buddhahood is attained in a single moment at the end of the eleventh bhumi, it is said, "Perfectly enlightened in a single moment," considering that it will happen in the future. The second is, for example, someone

Just as one enjoys the daughter born of Indra, one should constantly enjoy the mother of all Buddhas—the Prajñāpāramitā, the emptiness endowed with all kinds of excellence, like the nature of Prapapa. Thinking thus, it is said: "Having taken from all the Buddhas, enjoy the daughter born of the gods." As stated in the Mahāmāyā Sutra. Third, the ten external realms, the ten internal winds, and the secret refer to the name of the great life-force wind, contemplating that the conceptualizations of self-grasping must be killed. As stated in the Hevajra Tantra: "You should kill living beings." Thus it is. Second, those without hidden meanings: In terms of temporary and ultimate true meaning, if one engages in non-virtue temporarily, one will be born in the lower realms. Therefore, it is said: "You should not kill living beings, nor should you speak false words." Thus it is. In terms of ultimate true meaning: "The co-emergent that is not spoken by others, is not found anywhere, relying on the means of the Lama, it is known by one's own merit." And so on. Third, the interpretable meaning: Such as mandalas, offerings, mudras, fire offerings, generation stage, and activities, which are taught as means to enter the inner path. Fourth, the definitive meaning: Such as the means of realizing the binding of channels, winds, and bodhicitta, and the scriptures that clearly show the nature of the naturally luminous mind—the Alaya, the Tathagatagarbha, and the meaning of the Great Seal, the supreme and unchanging object of realization. Fifth, the literal meaning: The scriptures that teach in accordance with the fame of meaningless worldly treatises. Sixth, the non-literal meaning: Such as the names of the ten root and branch winds: Kota Khya, Kota Va, Kota, Kota Vasca, Kota Raga, Kola Khya, Trolava, Kola, Kola Vasca, Kola Stata. Thus it is said. For example, in explaining Vairochana, these terms are not found in worldly treatises, but are spoken in the secret language of the Tathagatas. In short, all tantras can be summarized into two: the meaning to be expressed and the words that express it. The meaning to be expressed is the conventional and the ultimate.
