With focused right contemplation, one possesses right view with individual discernment. Therefore, the eightfold noble path arises simultaneously, and the way in which right samadhi and right contemplation are not contradictory is also like this. Therefore, Lord Marpa said, "For that which is without conceptualization, do not fabricate the name 'without conceptualization'; for phenomena that are primordially unborn, do not even think of 'unborn'; for that which is free from exaggeration and diminution of great bliss, it is a fault even to think of being free; for the experience of clear light that is pure, do not even boast of being pure." It is also said, "The yogi who does not grasp at characteristics, does not even have the thought of negating this and that." And so on, teaching that abiding in the characteristic-less like space is the supreme of the path, and not obstructing the notion of characteristics; teaching that manifest freedom from conceptualization is the nature of the path, and not obstructing conceptualization, abiding in spontaneously accomplished non-conceptualization; and saying that the extremes of exaggeration and diminution cannot be eliminated by effort, finally saying, "If unfabricated self-luminosity does not arise, even if one meditates diligently on non-conceptualization, non-conceptualization itself is the cause of obscuration, like medicine itself not being digested, being heavier than disease itself. Therefore, when the mind itself realizes itself, it is said to cut off the imputations on effortless meditation." This means that if there is no key point that arises from within, that conceptualization cannot be abandoned and non-conceptualization cannot be accomplished, even if one covers it a thousand or a hundred thousand times with various drawings of contrived understanding that hopes for goodness, one will not be able to transcend this root downfall. If one knows such a key point, even if one deliberately and repeatedly grasps at characteristics, it will not become a root downfall, because one knows that characteristics and characteristic-lessness are equality, so no matter how one changes the form of characteristics, one knows it is like drawing a picture on water, and one will only be amazed and will not have other conceptions. Therefore, Do Ganga Ma said, "Even if one imposes various names on empty space, one cannot say anything like this about space. Similarly, even if one says that one's own mind is clear light, one cannot say it is like this, and there is no basis for establishing names. The nature of mind is primordially like space, and there is nothing that all phenomena do not encompass within it." And, Naropa's view in brief: "Because existence is not established in that way, non-existence will not be established even slightly. Because it is dependent on each other, this shore and the other shore are not established."

And, neither existence nor non-existence, because they do not exist separately. It is not without both, because existence and non-existence are contradictory. It is not sentient, nor is it possible to be non-sentient. Therefore, it is free from all elaborations. Thus, the ultimate truth is determined. The mind dwells in the sky, it is said. Whatever is free from elaboration, that itself is manifest and empty, empty and manifest. Therefore, appearance and emptiness are inseparable. Like the moon in water. Thus, the non-duality is determined. It is said. In the condensed words of Naropa: The nature remains naturally unaltered, the Dharma body is inconceivable. If you leave it without searching, it is meditation; searching and meditating is a confused mind. Thus, all the great accomplished ones unanimously say immeasurably. If one understands the profound essence of this lineage, then the river of dreams of various networks of signs of downfall and non-downfall, and where, who, and how one falls, and the dry land on the shore of emptiness where the signs are completely removed, and the individuals who fall into and emerge from them, and the root of all that appears in the absence of the seer and self-grasping, all awaken from the nature of the sleep of ignorance that has not awakened since the beginning, then all dharmas become of one taste in that very purity. Otherwise, those with thick attachments of arrogance and clinging to extremes cannot transcend this downfall. Because the mind that fears downfall and hopes for non-downfall, and the very clinging that believes this is a downfall and this is not a downfall, becomes the root downfall of this. Because one clings to the dharma that is free from downfall and non-downfall as downfall and non-downfall. Therefore, if one does not receive the transference of blessings from a virtuous lama, then the need for the mantra of the Vajrayana will not be accomplished by the secret mantra learned from a teacher who is only proficient in the words of manifest tantras and tantric commentaries, so one must first seek to realize the very nature of the lama. Here, some scholars say that among the three root downfalls of dull, medium, and sharp faculties, all three are the same in clinging to names and so on as the root downfall, but the dull-witted Mind-Only mantra practitioner clings to the wisdom of non-duality with dualistic grasping, and the medium-witted Svatantrika Madhyamika mantra practitioner.
