Having incorporated the essence of the primordial mind, and again offering to Vajrapani and making special supplications, he was appointed to protect the teachings known as Vajra Black Great Terrifier. It is like instantly repelling limitless unruly ones and establishing them in various pure lands to attain enlightenment. However, ordinary yogis, for the sake of protecting the teachings and sentient beings, also engage in wrathful activities. For this purpose, they perform profound rituals such as the seven-branch offering, tsa-tsa, and transference ceremonies, and dedicate all their merits to this cause. The secret deeds of the holy ones can only be understood through hearing about them. Even if a Bodhisattva knows for certain that another can be liberated but does not liberate them, there is no transgression. In some reliable medical histories, it is recorded that when King Langdarma (reigned 841-846 AD) was destroying the teachings, a tantric master named Nub Sangye Yeshe and a practitioner named Lhalung Pelgyi Dorje (who was the same person), when almost all the monks in U-Tsang had been eliminated, the king said, "Now I have destroyed Buddhism so that even its name is gone." A queen said, "There is still a yogi named Nub Sangye Yeshe who is very powerful." The king, enraged, summoned him and asked, "Who are you? What do you do?" The master replied, "I am a mantra practitioner called Konchok Ngagpa, and my work is to protect the teachings of the Buddha." The king angrily said, "I have already destroyed the teachings. What power do you have?" The master said, "Please observe for a moment the power of my mantra recitation." Saying this, he raised a threatening gesture towards the sky, and at the tip of the threatening gesture, a black iron scorpion as large as a yak dung appeared in nine layers. The king was terrified and said, "Please do not harm the body of Konchok Ngagpa," and begged for forgiveness. The master said again, "Look again at my power." Saying this, he pointed the threatening gesture towards the sky, and seven thunderbolts fell, circling the tip of the threatening gesture, and struck a rock on Pari Mountain near Lhasa, shattering it into pieces. The king was terrified and said, "Please do not harm you and your entourage, and I will offer you wealth." Then he let them go. Lhalung Peldor emitted light and great sounds, and urged by Magön, came out of retreat and went to him, saying, "I have made the cruel king afraid. Now you subdue him."
