Some say that this does not invalidate purity. But according to your view, it is not so, because this refers to the general statement of the purity of all places and those with places. Because you do not want all purities to be included in the purity of self-awareness. Here, we do not have any purity that is not included in the purity of the wisdom of individual self-awareness. Temporary consciousness, merely experiencing itself, does not become the purity of self-awareness. Because this is common to all children. Moreover, those noble ones who have cut off the elaboration of mind and mental factors and entered into the great luminosity do not have this. The purity of the object of this root downfall, for beginners, when separating consciousness and wisdom, is not established as the purity of self-awareness of consciousness. Because the self-awareness of consciousness is merely grasping itself, even in the stage of mere calm abiding, once it arises, it awakens samadhi, therefore it is an obstacle. At the time of insight, once it arises, it becomes attached to signs, therefore this is the basis of all impurities, the part that faces inward to the alaya and clings to self, not an antidote. This root downfall is said to be a root downfall if one doubts the purity that becomes an antidote, but it is not said that doubting the side to be abandoned is a root downfall. For example, if one wonders whether desire is outside, inside, both, or neither, whether it has arisen or not, what is it? This is not a root downfall. Because that would know that desire is free from arising, ceasing, and abiding, and that its nature is originally pure, thereby instantly entering into the wisdom of the purity of desire, the co-emergent of the two. Therefore, if one doubts the statement that the nature of desire is bliss and emptiness and Amitabha, thinking, "Then why do noble arhats deliberately abandon desire?" If one creates meaningless dualistic thoughts like this, it becomes a root downfall. Because led by meaningless doubt, the thought arises that this is not true. The purity of the object of this root downfall is also universally proclaimed, as in "For all phenomena that are pure in nature" and "For pure phenomena," it is established merely by universal indication. Then, one might think, is it contradictory that the purity of ultimate truth is not indicated here?

In short, when dividing the fourth empowerment into two, it is said here that the main focus is on showing the purification of conventional truth, but it is not said that the ultimate truth is not shown, because the nature of the two truths is inseparable like fire and heat, and no one can separate them. There will also be no repetition of the root downfall, because here the main focus is on abandoning the extremes of doubt in the illusory stage, and abandoning the extremes of exaggeration in the eleventh clear light stage. Some people say that to understand the self-nature purity here, one must obtain the view of non-duality of samsara and nirvana, and if one obtains it from the scriptures, reasoning, and pith instructions, this doubt will not arise. If it is said that the view of non-duality of samsara and nirvana refers to the coemergent wisdom of mantra, then it is not obtained only through scriptures, reasoning, and pith instructions, but must rely on the blessings of relying on a qualified guru and entering in time, and the auspicious coincidence of one's own accumulation of two accumulations. As it is said: "The coemergent, which cannot be spoken by others, is difficult to find anywhere, relying on the guru's timely methods, it is known from one's own merits." In general, it must be explained that crops arise from the combination of fields, seeds, time, and conditions. If it is said that crops arise from wealth, plows, and treatises on crops, it becomes a laughing stock. Similarly, the original meaning of coemergence is that the blessings of a qualified guru enter the fortunate disciple in time, so that each person arises from their own wisdom of awareness. If it is said that it should be obtained from scriptures, reasoning, and pith instructions, it cannot bring joy to the wise. Because scriptures, reasoning, and pith instructions are available to everyone from barbarians to Vajrayana. The Tripitaka scriptures spoken by the Tathagata, the twelve links of dependent origination, the reasoning of cause and effect, and the pith instructions of the three trainings, even if it is the only teaching, from the Sravakas to the Madhyamikas, the order of views and realizations is only separated in this way. That is to say, the only scriptures, reasoning, and pith instructions, when twelve people with different faculties think and understand together and show them to others, will also become twelve different views according to the order of their respective faculties.
