This "Condensed Meditation" should be practiced. As stated in the 'Compendium Sutra,' in order to obtain food in a way that pleases the mind, one should practice subjugating yakshini women, etc. Alternatively, if a supreme Dharma friend or great effort only obtains a small amount of food, one should enter into extremely simple practice according to this order. Therefore, one should practice in solitary places or cemeteries, etc., but it is not that one cannot practice in towns and cities, because the master Lawapa practiced in a large city in western Oddiyana, and the glorious Shantideva practiced within the sangha. As for the necessities of life, one can practice subjugating yakshini women such as the Assembly-Perfect Mother, etc., mentioned in the upper and lower tantras, making them one's mother, sister, wife, or servant, and then engaging in union; or one can practice subjugating Jambhala and Vasudhara, etc., making them one's patrons, and then engaging in union; or one can live on alms or a small amount of food related to asceticism, such as Lawapa living on regular alms, Shantideva obtaining food from the sangha, Lohipa living on the remains of fish discarded by fishermen, Milarepa practicing asceticism with buckwheat, and Mogchokpa relying on only a small amount of vegetable soup, thus accomplishing an extremely simple practice. How should one practice there? As it says in the same text: 'The order is as follows: First, the practitioner should remember the suffering of beginningless samsara, and in order to obtain the bliss of transcending suffering, one should completely abandon all distractions, and even cultivate the perception of suffering towards the power of kingship. Second, one should abandon the mind that clings to even a sesame seed as truly existent. Third, one should have faith in the ultimate truth and disregard body and life.' As it says in the Samadhiraja Sutra: 'Son of good family, therefore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who desires this samadhi and desires to quickly attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment should disregard body and life.' Thus it is said. Likewise, one should not seek small worldly siddhis and the eight great siddhis, because they are distracting.
