Earth and likewise mind, these are the six faculties, possessing ignorance, vajra, etc. From objects and object-possessors, they become the twelve sources. The five aggregates are form, etc., ultimately the great compassion of consciousness. Faculty and object itself, and the consciousness of the faculty, for the sake of understanding by the yoginis, it is said to be the eighteen elements. Thus it is said. In response to the question, the Bhagavan said: The six objects apprehended by sense consciousness are: the objects of the eye, twenty forms such as blue, or twenty-five forms; the objects of the ear, eight or eleven sounds; similarly, the objects of the nose, four or six smells; the objects of the tongue, six or twelve tastes; similarly, the objects of the body, eleven or twenty-two tactile objects; the objects of the mind, the sixteen natures of phenomena, conditioned and unconditioned. For these, the apprehended objects are said to be six. Here, the distinctions of object-form, the former twenty, etc., are according to the Hinayana system of the lower Abhidharma, while the latter are according to the Mahayana system explained in the Compendium, which also appears in the commentary Kaumudi, so only the names are mentioned. The twenty-five forms explicitly stated in the Mahayana: blue, yellow, red, white, long, short, square, round, fine, coarse, with gaps and without gaps, high, low, shadow, sun, light, darkness, cloud, smoke, dust, space for openings, indicative and space, one color. Sound is pleasant and unpleasant, and neither, with and without meaning, arising and not arising, two of each. Worldly fame and established reality are the two ways of speaking, imputed and non-noble, eleven terms. Delicious and not delicious, equal and co-arisen, combined and transformed, the six smells. Taste is sweet, sour, salty, bitter, spicy, astringent, pleasing, unpleasing, neither, co-arisen, combined, transformed, added to make twelve. Touch is soft, rough, heavy, light, pliable, and loose, non-loose, cold, hunger, thirst, satiety, weakness, large and small, fainting, itching, scratching, sickness, old age, death, fatigue, rest, accumulation, large, twenty-two. The element of phenomena, conditioned phenomena, is gathered from aggregation, manifest place, and truly taken from arising, imputed, power, feeling, thought, formation, eight. Unconditioned is virtue.

and the three kinds of suchness that are non-virtuous and not indicated. The cessation of space and the absorption without perception, the cessation of examination and the cessation of non-examination are explained as eight. So it is. The faculties that particularly dominate objects are six: the eye faculty that dominates form is like an Utpala flower. The ear faculty that dominates sound is like rolled-up wool. The nose faculty that dominates smell is like joined copper needles. The tongue faculty that dominates taste is like a half-moon. The body faculty that dominates touch is like bird-feather-soft leather. Regarding these, according to the tenets of different schools, there are those who consider the objects of the Alaya consciousness, which appear as the five faculties, to be faculties; some consider them to be seeds or abilities; and some consider them to be material aggregates. The mind faculty that dominates phenomena is the six consciousness realms and the afflicted mind. The term "suchness" means that just as the five sense consciousnesses have their own unique dominant conditions, the unique dominant condition of the sixth mind consciousness is the immediately preceding mind of the six consciousness realms that have been explained. That is, whatever consciousness arises immediately after the cessation of the six, that is the mind. As it is said. Alternatively, there are those who consider the afflicted mind to be the mind, but when explaining the seventh consciousness, there is the seventh consciousness afflicted by the four afflictions, the seventh consciousness afflicted by white dharmas such as generosity, and the seventh consciousness that does not belong to either of these two, which is the immediately preceding mind, thus there are three classifications. In this way, from the eye to the mind, these are considered to be the six faculties. These six are inseparably associated with the six, such as the vajra of ignorance. The six external objects, such as form, and the six internal objects, such as the eye faculty, become the twelve sources, in the sense of opening the door for the arising of suffering and enjoyment. The five aggregates are the form aggregate, which includes causes and effects, and the feeling aggregate, which includes pleasure, pain, and equanimity, and the perception aggregate, which includes signs and the absence of signs, and the mental events that are associated with the mind and the aggregate
