In order to embrace those who possess the lineage of the Great Vehicle, this treatise, the Uttaratantra, is taught as meaningful. The second is: Just as lamps, electricity, jewels, the sun and moon, relying on them, those with eyes can see objects, similarly, meaning, words, dharma, and eloquence make light, relying on the capable one, this is well explained. It is said. For example, relying on the external auxiliary conditions of the light of lamps, the light of electricity, the light of jewels, the light of the sun, and the light of the moon, the internal auxiliary condition is that when a person with clear visual consciousness sees objects, they can see external objects as they are without distortion, and similarly, they can also show them to others. Similarly, the external auxiliary condition is knowing the self-nature and common characteristics of all dharmas, knowing the meanings individually and correctly; knowing all words and phrases, knowing the words individually and correctly; knowing all names and categories, knowing the dharmas individually and correctly; knowing all knowable things without obstruction, knowing the eloquence individually and correctly. By radiating the light of the four individual correct knowledges, thereby clearly knowing all knowable things, relying on the teachings of the capable one, the internal auxiliary condition is seeing the Tathagatagarbha directly with the eye of wisdom, thereby well explaining this treatise, the Uttaratantra. The third is: Whatever is meaningful and closely related to the Dharma, the speech that eliminates all afflictions from the three realms, whatever demonstrates the benefit of peace, that is the speech of a sage, the opposite is other. It is said. Any scripture, the meaning of the subject matter is great, the words of expression are closely related to the stainless Dharma, the function is to eliminate all afflictions from the three realms, and the result is to lead them to Nirvana by showing the benefits of peaceful Nirvana. Whatever speech possesses these four special qualities is the scripture of the great sage Buddha, the words of the Victorious One. What is contrary to this is other than the Buddha's words, so it should not be accepted. The fourth is: Whatever is spoken by a mindful person who is solely under the power of the Victorious One's teachings, without distraction, and is in accordance with the path to liberation, that too is like the words of a sage, to be taken on the crown of one's head. It is said. The explanation of its intention is

Any treatise that is composed solely for the sake of the Buddha's teachings, in which the author, with an undistracted mind, explains the meaning of the Buddha's words, and in which the pure and excellent explanations are consistent with the path to liberation, should be accepted with the same reverence as the Buddha's teachings, because the reasons are the same. Fifth, because there is no one in the world more knowledgeable about the Dharma than the Buddha, it is said: "In this world, there is no teacher of Dharma superior to the Victorious One, He knows completely and perfectly all that is excellent, Therefore, do not distort the sutras established by the Wise One himself, For distorting them destroys the excellent Dharma." As it is said, because there is no one more knowledgeable about the Dharma than the perfectly enlightened Buddha in this world. Because all knowable things and all such excellent realities are known through perfectly and directly realized wisdom, and not through any other means than the Buddha. Therefore, do not arbitrarily alter or misinterpret the sutras established by the great sage Buddha himself in a direct and indirect way, do not interpret the provisional meaning as definitive, or the definitive meaning as provisional. If you do so, you will destroy the excellent Dharma of the perfectly enlightened Buddha, and it will also cause harm to the Dharma, leading to the serious offense of abandoning the Dharma. The sixth part is divided into three aspects: defining the abandonment of Dharma, determining not to abandon the profound Dharma, and explaining that abandoning the Dharma is heavier than the five heinous crimes. The first part is divided into two aspects: advising to abandon the causes of abandoning the Dharma, and truly abandoning the Dharma with ten causes. The first point is: "Those who are deluded by afflictions, slander the noble ones, And despise the Dharma they speak, all due to clinging to views. Therefore, one should not associate with those who are tainted with clinging to views, Like pure cloth changing color, not being stained by oil." As it is said, those who are deluded by afflictions and are by nature ignorant, slander the special objects, that is, the noble ones, and despise the Dharma they speak, all because of their attachment to their own doctrines.
