It won't work like that. Now that you have obtained a human body, and at this time when you encounter the true Dharma, you must practice something that is the main thing for accomplishing the ultimate aspirations of lifetimes. That is, the affairs of the next life are more important than the affairs of this life. Among the affairs of the next life, liberation from samsara is the most important. Benefiting others is more important than benefiting oneself. Among the two, teaching and practice of the Dharma, practice is the most important. Among other practices, cultivating the mind of bodhicitta is the most important. Among them, it is more important to firmly cultivate the guru's instructions in your heart than to study and contemplate with reason and logic. It is more important to practice while lying in bed than other behaviors. Don't reverse it. The so-called "don't reverse it" means abandoning the six reversals: unable to endure the hardships of practicing Dharma, but able to endure the suffering of conquering enemies, protecting relatives, farming, doing business, etc., this is enduring reversal. Not willing to practice pure Dharma, but greedy for the happiness and wealth of this life, this is greedy reversal. Not tasting the flavors of hearing, thinking, and meditating, but tasting the flavors of worldly pleasures, this is tasting reversal. Not having compassion for doing evil, but having compassion for doing asceticism for the sake of Dharma, this is compassion reversal. Not using it for the ways of dealing with the world related to oneself, but using it for the prominence of this life, this is intention reversal. Not cultivating joy for the happiness and virtue of samsara and nirvana, but cultivating joy for the misfortune of others and the suffering of enemies, this is rejoicing reversal. These six reversals must be abandoned in every way. Don't be intermittent. The so-called "don't be intermittent" means sometimes doing it and sometimes not doing it, which is because you have not generated a definite understanding of the Dharma. Don't be distracted, but cultivate your mind with one-pointedness. Cultivate thoroughly. The so-called "cultivate thoroughly" means not mixing with distractions, but cultivating with one-pointedness, throwing your mind completely into cultivation, and cultivating with concentration. Obtain liberation through the two, observation and analysis. The so-called "obtain liberation through the two, observation and analysis" means that you must constantly use observation and analysis to liberate yourself from afflictions and the attachment to self. That is, you must keep in mind the place where afflictions arise, and observe whether afflictions arise strongly. If they arise, you must rely strongly on the antidote. Also, observe how self-cherishing exists. If it seems as if it does not exist, then rely on an object of attachment and aversion to observe. At that time, if self-cherishing arises, you must immediately abandon it with the antidote of exchanging self and others. Don't accumulate favors. The so-called "don't accumulate favors" means that even if the other person has done you a favor,

Do not overemphasize yourself, but cultivate cherishing others more than yourself; do not think that everything is for yourself because you are a scholar, a monk, or have practiced the Dharma and endured long austerities, and do not blame others unnecessarily. Do not sell blame to others. Do not expect too much from people. Praying to the gods is the teaching of Rechungpa. Do not suppress arguments. That is, do not harbor jealousy towards others. Do not retaliate when others publicly criticize you or harm you, and avoid disturbing your mind. Potowa said: We practitioners have not become the antidote to the antidote of clinging to Dharma, so our patience is smaller than sheep's wool. Arguments are stricter than pure precepts. This is not how to understand the Dharma, so one must become the antidote to the antidote of clinging to Dharma. Do not engage in momentary actions. That is, do not show joy or displeasure at the slightest thing, and do not hurt the hearts of friends. Do not desire great fame. That is, do not expect to receive praise from others for practicing the Dharma, benefiting others, and doing good deeds. In short, avoid seeking fame. Thus, these instructions are the means to prevent mind training from declining and to make it grow. In short, Gyalse Rinpoche said: Throughout your life, you should diligently cultivate the two aspects of Bodhicitta, common and subsequent, so as to gain mastery. When the five degenerations are rampant, transform them into the path to enlightenment. This essential nectar of secret instructions is transmitted from Serlingpa. That is to say, when the five degenerations of time, sentient beings, lifespan, afflictions, and views are rampant, the conducive conditions for happiness are few, and the adverse conditions are extremely numerous, and other Dharmas cannot counteract them, the more adverse conditions a mind-training practitioner encounters, the more virtuous deeds increase, just as the more firewood there is, the more the flames blaze. Transforming all afflictions and adverse conditions into the path of enlightenment is a unique characteristic not found in other teachings. This essential nectar of secret instructions, which benefits all beings of high and low capacity and can be integrated into one's mind, is the profound Dharma transmitted from Jowo Serlingpa, the most kind of Atisha's three teachers.
