Relax for a moment, let the thoughts arise naturally. Don't think about anything else. Meditate for a slightly longer period. Reverse meditation is to recognize any arising conceptual thoughts and regard them as benefactors. Abandon all acceptance and rejection, hope and doubt, and recognize them. It doesn't matter how much they change. Also, let it flow as much as possible. Don't follow, but also recognize this, and don't engage in any negation or affirmation. Even if strong emotions such as illness, suffering, and afflictions arise, observe them in the same way, and they will naturally subside. Fifteen sessions of meditation. Next is the method of generating and recognizing calm abiding (shamatha): Through the power of focusing the mind, the mind slightly abides and completely abides, which is called calm abiding. If the body does not encounter disturbing conditions, it cannot be called calm abiding. Calm abiding is when the mind is pacified from the elaborations of afflictions, conceptual thoughts, clinging, and distractions, and in the essence of virtue, it is free from sinking and excitement, clearly and purely focused on one point. The state previously attained through effort, now without relying on effort, becomes easy, broad, easy to cultivate. When rising from meditation, the mind no longer drifts anywhere, but remains stable. In all four modes of conduct, awareness is slow and harmonious. Appearances become dim and dull, and if the mind is not intentionally engaged with an object, the details of the object cannot be grasped. It seems that forgetfulness has become severe, and various experiences of bliss, clarity, and non-thought are seen. Many experiences, clairvoyance, and miracles also appear. The ten signs and so on also manifest in various ways. If this state arises in the continuum, then it is the basis for generating all qualities such as insight (vipassanā). In this case, illnesses, pains, sufferings, innocent accusations, etc., also manifest in various ways, and good and bad dreams, clairvoyance and miracles, experiences of bliss, clarity, and non-thought, etc., also arise. Whatever arises, abandon attachment and hatred, and maintain a non-clinging attitude. Take it out from the ashes of diligence and practice, and the merits will be inconceivable. Therefore, cultivate this calm abiding that is free from faults such as lethargy and distraction, this characterized calm abiding, in the continuum, and earnestly make it the core. This is the recognition of mere calm abiding. Sixteen sessions of meditation. Second, observing and recognizing insight (vipassanā), divided into two parts: The first part includes observing from the perspective of abiding, observing from the perspective of movement, observing from the perspective of appearance, and observing whether body and mind are one or separate. Observing abiding and movement.

Five, first. Keep the body posture as before. The way of looking is important at this time, so look a little higher than before, directly at the center of the sky, without shaking or tilting. Briefly explain the preliminaries. Then let the mind relax naturally. After that, the mind abides in a state of being flawless, clear, and bright. In this state, take a moment to remember, and when calm abiding is good, observe whether the essence, color, shape, arising, ceasing, and abiding of this mind exist or not, and observe where the abiding mind is inside or outside the body? In what color and shape does it abide? 1. Is there anything else to know besides abiding? 2. Is it like emptiness where there is nothing, like a rabbit's horn? 3. In the state of abiding, is there a knowing that is clear, bright, comfortable, and unrecognizable, which cannot be expressed in words? 4. Is the essence of abiding also an unexpressed, dark knowing, with nothing to remember and no clarity? 5. Is it abiding clearly, nakedly, and openly? 6. Here there is a flaw in the way of abiding, so the understanding is dry, the Dharma language is high, and even if it has not arisen, it is made to appear as if it has arisen by the eight worldly dharmas, which is self-deception and ungratefulness, so one must investigate the root cause and experience with the power of meditation that arises naturally from within, not an experience that is patched up with conceptual thoughts. 7. Also, rest and watch, and be sure to settle in the continuum, and then watch. Seventeen sessions. Second, watching from the flow means that the body posture from the preliminaries to watching the abiding is briefly explained, and then the mind is allowed to abide in an undeniable state. Then, let a sudden thought arise or be allowed to arise, and observe what the essence of the thought that arises is like? In what color and shape does it arise? Observe the arising, ceasing, and abiding of this thought, and no matter which flow, observe the essence of the thought without importance. 1. Let various thoughts arise or be allowed to arise, as well as thoughts of afflictions, the three poisons, etc., and observe them as before. 2. Observe what is the difference between each thought, the object of the thought arising, and the mind of the previous thought. 3. When looking at the thought, all thoughts are emptiness, free from elaboration, arising and ceasing...
