After guiding, ask from the deepest level. Some have actually realized, but are not good at expressing it, so teach and ask again. At that time, if it is false or just understanding, they will not be able to grasp the word and will change. If it is real, whether it is or not, they will say, "This kind of thing happened to me." Ask well, and from the order of arising, distinguish the essence and introduce it. If you establish everything without any arising, you will become a slick talker. Later, it will even harm others' efforts to practice meditation. There is incompleteness here, so instruct him to bring some realization from the scriptures and then let him leave. The forty-fifth Dharma session. If someone says that when looking at the state of non-thought, there is nothing other than that state itself, it means that higher seeing has not arisen, so extend it for a few days and let him continue to observe. If someone says that they are in a state of emptiness where nothing can be recognized, it means that they have only seen one aspect and have not seen everything. Therefore, they should make a firm decision in a non-distracted way and let them observe whether it is just emptiness or what kind of emptiness it is. In the unrecognizable, bright, naked awareness, there is not even the thought of "This is the kind of sight I have never seen before." If someone says that although they do not know what it is, there is a certain feeling, or that this mind abides in the state of emptiness, there is an unrecognizable, bright, clear feeling that they can experience themselves, but they cannot express it in words, then ask carefully. If it is understanding, they will not be able to persist. If it is experience, it will not change. Settle it well and abide in it, and that is when higher seeing arises. If someone babbles when asked to identify and search for where the mind arises and where it ceases, it is a sign of not understanding. If someone says that there is no arising and no ceasing, then ask them if they had such a thought at that moment. If they say yes, then let them look at that thought itself. If they say that although there is no thought of "It is like this," they know that there is no arising or ceasing, it means that higher seeing has arisen in non-thought, so guide them to the Dharmakaya, which is the union of awareness and emptiness. If someone says "There is no arising or ceasing, abiding in emptiness" in a sweet voice when looking at thoughts, they are lying. If they say that when looking at thoughts, the thoughts disappear like a stream of water without a trace, it means that a little higher seeing has arisen. As soon as a thought arises, then...
