Because the respective roots of the three, as well as the common root, all arise from not knowing how ignorance arises. Samadhi represents, and also includes formless absorptions that are contaminated, as well as the obscurations of desire, etc., which also have some roots. Third, if it is said that the Long Agama Sutra speaks of fourteen objects that are not to be specified, is that why they are not to be specified? No, because they are induced by an unwholesome mind, so they are unwholesome. Saying that they are not to be specified is because the answer to the question is not specified. According to the difference in answers, there are also four types of questions: One is a question that is specified in general, such as asking whether all men will die? The answer is: They will die. One is a question that is specified separately, such as asking whether all the dead will be reborn? The answer is: Those with craving will be reborn, and those without craving will not be reborn. One is a question that is specified by asking back, such as asking whether this person is inferior or particularly superior? The answer is: Ask him himself, if compared to the gods, he is inferior; if compared to the evil realms, he is particularly superior. One is a question that needs to be set aside for specification, such as the heretics asking: Is the self different from the aggregates or not different, etc.? Because the self of sentient beings is not established, the difference or non-difference from the aggregates is also not established, so the answer needs to be set aside. So, what is called specification? Because the essence is not established, there is no special specification, this is a specification in meaning, and not directly specifying is to dispel disbelief. Fifth, regarding: The way of having; the way of establishing having after abandoning; and what mind focuses on the higher Dharma. First, regarding: The way of having its own characteristic; the way of having the general characteristic; and examining having in the three times. First, regarding: The two times; and the way of having the future. The first is: Whatever affliction of whatever person, with whatever object it grows, then that person has the object of that affliction. Among them, greed, hatred, and pride are the three that focus on any kind of pleasant or unpleasant object, so they are afflictions with their own characteristics; while view, doubt, and ignorance are the three that focus on all pleasant and unpleasant objects, so they are called afflictions with common characteristics. Among them, past and near-present greed, hatred, and pride, because they do not focus on all objects, so with self

Regarding the common object, if those three arise, it is impossible to eliminate them now. The past, uneliminated afflictions cause things and individuals to be associated. Elimination does not cause association because it does not increase the object, and from this, it can be inferred that all non-increasing objects are not associated. Those three are the objects of mind, which are the three times; those two are the objects of the five senses, which are their own time. Therefore, the continuum that possesses the attainment of afflictions is considered to be associated with that object. Second, the objects of mind, those three, the future, are not eliminated, so they cause their own objects to be associated with all three times. Greed and hatred, the other five sense objects, are changing, because they are not the previous or subsequent objects, so they cause the objects that are simultaneous with themselves to be associated. Those who are not born of Dharma cause all three times of objects to be associated. Because even if the afflictions themselves are not born, the objects are not necessarily unborn, but will become present and past. Like lightning, it is not truly apprehended, the Lama said. Second, the remaining three common afflictions are only the objects of mind, so all those who have not eliminated the three times cause the objects of the three times, everything that is lovely and unlovely, to be associated. The ignorance of the five sense objects is as before. Third, state the claim, refute those, and answer those. First, there are also the proposition and the reason for the proposition, the classification of Yogis, and the view of the Sarvastivadins is reasonable. First, if the two times exist as real, then conditioned phenomena will become permanent. If they do not exist, then how can they be associated and the agent? Answer: All times exist as real, and have the characteristics of conditioned phenomena, so there are no two faults. The scripture as an argument is, in the sutra it is said: Because the past form exists, therefore one does not look at the past form. Feeling joy for the future and experiencing taste for the present, therefore the five aggregates must be studied and proclaimed. The Sutra of the Summary of the Six Sense Fields says: Consciousness arises dependent on two, therefore mind consciousness arises from the immediately past mind and the dharmas of the three times, therefore the unreal cannot be the basis. The reasoning is that if the object exists, then consciousness arises, if it does not exist, then it does not arise, and consciousness that focuses on the three times arises. If the past does not exist, then
