RA. Meditating on the arising sequence of the five Pure Abodes alone has five distinct aspects: small, medium, large, very large, and extremely large. The first is the manifestation of three minds: unpolluted, polluted, and unpolluted. The second is six. The third is nine. The fourth is twelve. The fifth is fifteen. Their fruits are the five Pure Abodes according to their number, and due to the presence of defilements within them, they are born in these realms. Others say that it is five because of the increase of the faculty of faith and so on. So they say. Thus it is said. Their meaning is that from then on, cultivating meditation, one goes to Akanishta. Like this, the cause of going to the ultimate place of Akanishta is that one must cultivate meditation, so first it shows what to cultivate, how to cultivate, the degree of accomplishment, and what to rely on for cultivation. Except for the Buddha, like this, the degree of accomplishment shows the scholar's own tenet. Why cultivate meditation? Like this, it shows the necessity of cultivating meditation. Others say, like this, the monk Palden believes that there are definitely five Pure Abodes because of the increase of the five faculties of faith and so on. Secondly, the distinction from the perspective of qualities is also said from that itself: Because of obtaining cessation, non-returner. One wants to manifest with the body. Because there is obtaining of cessation here, it is obtaining of cessation. For the non-returner, that cessation is the manifestation with the body of the Dharma similar to Nirvana, so it is called manifesting with the body. How does one manifest with the body? Because there is no mind, it arises relying on the body. It will become like this, that cessation, after rising from that, from where it arose, thinking like this: Alas! The samadhi of cessation is as peaceful as Nirvana! When thinking like this, the body together with consciousness obtains the peace that was not previously obtained. Thus, this person manifests its peace with the body, because what is manifested by obtaining and knowing is manifestation. Like this it is said, its meaning is

Because there is the attainment of such cessation, etc., the meaning of manifesting with the body elucidates the tenets of the Vaibhashika school. At the time of entering cessation samadhi, it relies on the tenet of no-mind. Such as this, etc., elucidates the teacher's view. It means that at the time of arising from cessation samadhi, it refers to the body with consciousness manifesting the definite understanding that the previous cessation samadhi is peaceful. In short, the former refers to the time of entering samadhi, saying that it is manifested by a body without mind. The latter refers to the time of arising from samadhi, saying that it is manifested by a body with consciousness, which is the difference. Among those previously mentioned, "seeing the Dharma peacefully" and so on, are limited to those who have attained the path of seeing and have not abandoned their physical basis. The noble one who has exhausted their lifespan is limited to those who have abandoned the physical basis of attaining the path of seeing. "Body manifestation" is done in the case where both abandonment and non-abandonment exist, and it should be understood that it is explained in order. These are only rough distinctions, and if divided in detail, it has also been said that there are 122,960 non-returners, but because it is too numerous, it has not been elaborated. Fourth, entering the Arhat. Again, in that (sutra) it is said: "One who has exhausted the eight obstructions of the peak of existence, is one who has entered the Arhat." This is done by considering the term "non-returner." Furthermore, that non-returner, starting from being free from desire in only one aspect of the first dhyana, up to abandoning the eight aspects of the peak of existence, is one who has entered the Arhat. The ninth unobstructed path is also only entering the Arhat when one abides in the unobstructed path that abandons the ninth aspect of the peak of existence. That is like a vajra. That unobstructed path is called vajra-like samadhi because it destroys all subtle elaborations. It is not that because it has already been destroyed, this can destroy everything, but because it is extremely superior among all unobstructed paths, it is able to destroy, so it is said. Its meaning is that one who has exhausted the eight obstructions of the peak of existence, etc., means that when abandoning the first affliction of the first dhyana.
