The diligence of practicing austerities for the benefit of others is not difficult because of the purity of understanding others as equal to oneself, and because of the power of cherishing others. The purity of meditation is superior to the meditation of worldly beings and Hearers and Solitary Realizers because it possesses great uncontaminated bliss, etc. The purity of wisdom is superior to the wisdom of worldly beings and Hearers and Solitary Realizers because it directly realizes all objects and realizes them very clearly. Thirdly, giving is supreme in terms of eight meanings: the basis is a Bodhisattva; the object of giving among material things is one's body and life; among indestructible givings, it is saving from the destruction of samsara; among Dharma givings, it is the giving of the Mahayana Dharma; the reason for giving is that it is motivated by compassion; the dedication is to accomplish great enlightenment; the cause is giving through the power of having previously cultivated giving; wisdom is that which is grasped by the wisdom that does not discriminate in the three spheres; and the field is beggars, those who are suffering, those who are without support, and those who engage in misconduct, with the latter being superior to the former. If these are absent, then giving to those who possess qualities, having faith in the place, paying attention, and giving while abiding in samadhi. The latter five also have the six meanings applied to them as before. The difference in the basis is that in discipline it is the discipline of a Bodhisattva; in patience it is pacifying with a small amount of pride; in diligence it is meditating on the Paramitas, etc.; in meditation it is the samadhi of a Bodhisattva; and in wisdom it is realizing the suchness of all phenomena, so the basis becomes supreme. The supreme field of all five is the Mahayana Dharma. Tenth, the four aspects of mutual determination are: determination because of mutual inclusion, that is, each of them includes six sixes; determination of distinction is that each one is divided into six sixes; determination because of nature is that the spoken six perfections include the speaker, such as the Sutras, and those speakers also include the spoken six perfections; determination because of cause is that each Paramita becomes the cause of entering into the other five.
