In general, there are four situations: analyzing the differences between these two (referring to definitive and non-definitive meanings), and incidentally analyzing the differences between direct and hidden meanings. The first situation is: In the Ornament for Clear Realization, it says: "The intention of subsequent inclusion, the intention of nature, the intention of antidote, and the intention of transformation. Afflictions and self-nature, likewise subduing evils, and the profound meaning of speech, these four are hidden intentions." It means that the intention of subsequent inclusion is: For example, in order to guide some Shravaka lineage people into Buddhism, it is said that there is a self. The intention of nature is: The Mind-Only school believes that contemplating the non-self-nature established by the completely imagined nature, the non-self-nature arising from its own power of dependence, and the non-self-nature of the other entity of the perfectly established reality, therefore, it is like the scriptures that declare the nature of all phenomena to be without self-nature. The Madhyamaka school believes that this refers to the self-characteristics and common characteristics declared in scriptures such as the Abhidhamma Sutra. The intention of antidote is: To counteract actions such as slandering the Buddha, the four hidden intentions to be discussed below are declared. The intention of transformation is: It is necessary to transform the directly declared meaning to explain it in other aspects, for example: "Without essence, one knows the essence, one dwells well in inversion, one is extremely afflicted by afflictions, one will obtain supreme Bodhi." Like this example. So, how should it be transformed? Essence refers to distraction, and without essence refers to the practice of higher Samadhi learning. Inversion refers to permanence, etc., and dwelling in inversion refers to dwelling in the impermanence, etc., of inversion, which is the practice of higher wisdom learning. Affliction refers to asceticism, and being extremely afflicted by affliction refers to the practice of higher ethical discipline. Therefore, if one dwells in the three practices, one will obtain supreme Bodhi. The second situation is: In the Ornament for Clear Realization, it says: "Equality and otherness, likewise other times, and the intention of sentient beings, these four intentions are hidden. Slandering the Buddha's teachings, laziness and contentment with a little, arrogance and attachment, regret and uncertain regression, and the sins of sentient beings, the Great Vehicle is said to be the antidote to them." It means that the intention of equality is: Considering the three equalities, it is said: "I am the Buddha Vipashyin."

Thus it is. The three equalities are: As stated in the Treasury of Knowledge: All Buddhas' retinues, The Dharmakaya's benefit for sentient beings, Equality is their lifespan, Not by lineage, body size, etc. Thus it is. The necessity is: Like the Buddha Shakyamuni, thinking he is inferior to the Buddha Dipamkara, is the antidote to dispelling contempt. Speaking with another meaning in mind is: The words actually spoken are spoken with another meaning in mind, such as: Father and mother are to be killed, The king, pure, with two, And the country with its retinue, If destroyed, that person becomes pure. Thus it is said. What is the meaning being referred to? It means: Actions and craving should be abandoned, The combining consciousness and the two supreme attachments, If the birthplace and the field of activity are destroyed, That person becomes pure. This is what it refers to. The necessity is: The Dharma is easy to realize, therefore it is inferior, which is the antidote to dispel this thought. Speaking with another time in mind is: Speaking with another future time of birth in mind, such as: If you make a prayer to be born in Sukhavati, you will be born there. The necessity is the antidote to laziness. Speaking with the intention of the individual is: As an antidote to the attachment to generosity as supreme, To denigrate it and praise morality, etc. The necessity is: To counteract the thought that a little generosity, etc., is enough. It can prevent regret and uncertainty. Thus, etc., it shows the general necessity of provisional and definitive meanings. Third, what is the difference between provisional and definitive meanings? The translator says: The sutra whose meaning is not understood by the listener, which the speaker speaks with a certain meaning in mind, is a sutra with a provisional meaning, and the sutra whose meaning is understood by the listener is a sutra with a definitive meaning. If so, some Shravaka lineages, for the purpose of introducing the teachings, the sutra that shows that external objects truly exist, should be the nature of a sutra with a hidden meaning. Because it is the object to be expressed. If you accept, then those Shravaka lineages should understand the meaning of the sutra as the existence of forms, sounds, etc., established by valid cognition. Furthermore, the sutras with provisional meaning and the sutras with definitive meaning should be contradictory. Because the difference between the two that you have said is reasonable. It cannot be accepted, because the basis of the provisional meaning is also the definitive meaning of the antidote.
