Furthermore, there are two kinds of apprehended conceptualization. First, it grasps its own object as an object to be abandoned. Second, it grasps it as an object to be adopted. There are also two kinds of grasping conceptualization. First, it grasps its own object as a truly existent enjoyer. Second, it grasps its own object as merely an enjoyer, without truly grasping it. In short, the key point is that all four are distinguished by way of their manner of grasping. Fourth, the definition of conceptualization as presented here: the obscuration to knowledge, which is the main object to be abandoned on the bodhisattva path, is an afflicted mind that has the aspect of establishing a manner of grasping. Fifth, is it that conceptualization of an object is called apprehended conceptualization, and conceptualization of a grasper is called grasping conceptualization, because they are established from the perspective of the object? Or is it that conceptualization of what is apprehended by the mind is called apprehended conceptualization, and conceptualization of what is grasped by the mind is called grasping conceptualization, because they are established from the perspective of the manner of grasping? The commentary says: Because the mind also conceptualizes the object by focusing on the apprehended object, it is called apprehended conceptualization. Because the mind also conceptualizes the object by focusing on the grasper object, it is called grasping conceptualization. It is said that they are established from the perspective of both the object of focus and the manner of grasping, which is very reasonable after investigation and analysis. Although it is mainly established from the perspective of the manner of grasping, the difference between the apprehended and the grasper here has already been explained as being distinguished from the perspective of the mind's manner of grasping. The Dar Tika-pa says: Because it appears as truly existent as something to be enjoyed, it is called apprehended conceptualization. Because it clings to what appears as truly existent as an enjoyer, it is called grasping conceptualization. This establishment is wrong, because the imputed grasping conceptualization does not have the manner of grasping of true grasping. The point here is that the difference between apprehended conceptualization and grasping conceptualization is mainly explained from the perspective of the manner of grasping. Furthermore, in the first chapter, the meaning of "having a basis as its support and having its antidote as its support," which is directly stated in the root text of the treatise, is said by the noble one to be "conceptualization that merely has a thing as its support and conceptualization that has an appearance as its support," and the teacher calls it "pervasively afflicted apprehended conceptualization and pervasively purified apprehended conceptualization." In the fifth chapter, entering apprehended conceptualization and returning apprehended conceptualization are mentioned as two. The way in which the Three Hundred Thousand considers these two to be a distinction of pervasively purified apprehended conceptualization, along with its reasons, will be explained in the fifth chapter.

The fundamental intention, by the power of the term "its antidote," shows the "base" and the uncommon qualities. There are two kinds of uncommon qualities: the qualities of all afflictions and the Hearer Vehicle path with its fruit. Firstly, if the antidote to it is connected only with pure appearance, then it appears like the name of the teacher. If it is connected with the second, then its antidote is the Great Vehicle path with its fruit, giving rise to the names of reversing object-apprehension and entering object-apprehension. Thus, both the object-apprehension of all afflictions and the reversing object-apprehension are the first object-apprehension here. Both the entering object-apprehension and the pure appearance object-apprehension should be known as the second. To make the Hearer Vehicle path an uncommon quality and the Bodhisattva path an antidote is witnessed by the third chapter. In the case of the abandonment of meditation, the names of the conceptualization corresponding to the object of application and the conceptualization corresponding to the object of entry are mentioned. In the case of this grasping conceptualization and the abandonment of seeing, the names of substance-grasping conceptualization and imputation-grasping conceptualization are mentioned. In the case of the abandonment of meditation, only the first and last grasping conceptualizations are mentioned, but not the names of substance-grasping conceptualization and imputation-grasping conceptualization. Therefore, the Ṭīkā says that both of these are considered to be divisions of imputation-grasping conceptualization here. Secondly, the divisions: If divided according to the mode of grasping, there are object-apprehension and subject-apprehension. Each of these has two each as before, so there are four. If divided according to the object, each of the four has nine each, so there are thirty-six. If divided according to the realm, each of the three realms has thirty-six each, so there are one hundred and eight. If divided according to the antidote, there are the conceptualizations to be abandoned by seeing and the conceptualizations to be abandoned by meditation. The divisions of each of these are also as before. If divided according to the cause, there are the imputed and the innate, which have the same meaning as the above two. Thirdly, analyzing the meaning of each separately: There are the general explanation and the specific explanation. The first has two: refutation and establishment. Firstly, some say that the conceptualization mentioned here is the conceptualization of grasping at truth. In general, grasping at truth has two: grasping at truth in persons and phenomena. The first is not the conceptualization mentioned here. The latter is grasping at the external object as true.
