Regarding habits, the habits of afflictions to be abandoned by the path of seeing are abandoned all at once by the uninterrupted path of the path of seeing. The habits of afflictions to be abandoned by the path of meditation are categorized into three: large, medium, and small, which are included in the desire realm. Then, they are abandoned sequentially by the uninterrupted paths of the second, third, and fourth grounds. After that, the three included in the form realm and the three included in the formless realm are abandoned like the previous four, because the abandonment of the obscurations of knowledge of that ground and the abandonment of the imprints of afflictions occur simultaneously. Secondly, the uninterrupted path of the first ground abandons all at once the seeds of the one hundred and eight conceptualizations of grasping and being grasped to be abandoned by the path of seeing. The uninterrupted paths from the second to the tenth grounds abandon those seeds of the obscurations of knowledge to be abandoned by the path of meditation by dividing them into nine categories, such as the greatest of the great, and then abandoning them sequentially. If one wonders, how is it explained that the uninterrupted path of the path of meditation abandons the seeds of the one hundred and eight conceptualizations of grasping and being grasped to be abandoned by the path of meditation? The thirty-six conceptualizations of grasping and being grasped included in the desire realm are categorized into large, medium, and small, and then abandoned sequentially by the uninterrupted paths of the second, third, and fourth grounds. After that, the thirty-six included in the form realm by the three, and the thirty-six included in the formless realm by the three, are abandoned in the same way as before, and it should be understood that the meaning is the same. If one wonders, how is it that the path of seeing abandons the one hundred and eight afflictions to be abandoned by the path of seeing, and the path of meditation abandons the one hundred and eight obscurations of afflictions to be abandoned by the path of meditation, as stated in the commentaries, and the numbers of afflictions to be abandoned by the path of seeing and the path of meditation mentioned above do not match? There is no fault, because the statement of one hundred and eight refers to the fact that there are so many obscurations of knowledge, and therefore it takes into account that there are so many imprints of afflictions that are the cause of those. The former is because the afflictions themselves are differentiated in that way in terms of their nature and the realms. Seventh, the first ground has ten complete purifications, the second has eight, the third has five, the fourth has ten, the fifth has ten, the sixth has twelve, the seventh has twenty, the eighth has eight, and the ninth has twelve. In short, there are ninety-five complete purifications. The reason why the complete purifications are not explained separately on the tenth ground is to generate joy, the result.

It is not that it is absent because it is explained through the method of divisions, but rather because it is included within the complete practice of the ninth ground. The eighth is: On the first ground, one sees a hundred Buddhas and is blessed by them, enters a hundred samadhis, shakes a hundred worlds, goes to a hundred Buddha-fields, illuminates a hundred worlds, ripens a hundred sentient beings, abides for a hundred kalpas, enters the prior and posterior limits of these, opens a hundred doors of Dharma, manifests a hundred bodies, and shows each body surrounded by a hundred thousand retinues, thus demonstrating one hundred and twelve qualities. Similarly, on the second ground, it increases a thousandfold; on the third, a hundred thousandfold; on the fourth, ten thousandfold; on the fifth, ten million trillionfold; on the sixth, a trillion hundred thousandfold; on the seventh, a hundred million trillion hundred thousandfold; on the eighth, the number of dust particles of ten hundred thousand kotis of three thousand great thousand worlds; on the ninth ground, the number of dust particles of immeasurable ten hundred thousand kotis of Buddha-fields; and on the tenth ground, one obtains the number of dust particles of Buddha-fields that are inexpressible and again inexpressible, as explained in the Sutra of the Ten Grounds and the Engaging. The ninth is, in the Ornament it says: "For Bodhi is near, and seeing the accomplishment of the benefit of beings, great joy arises; therefore, it is called the Joyful Ground. Because it is free from the defilement of immoral conduct, it is called the Immaculate Ground. Because it makes a great light of Dharma, it is called the Luminous Ground. Like this, the Dharma that accords with Bodhi, like a fire that burns intensely, because it possesses it, that ground shines because it burns the two. In order to fully ripen sentient beings, and also to protect one's own mind, it is difficult for the wise to practice; therefore, it is called the Difficult to Conquer Ground. Relying on the Perfection of Wisdom, samsara and nirvana, because these two become manifest, it is called the Manifest Ground. Because it is connected with the one path, it is considered the Far-Going Ground. Because it is not moved by the two cognitions, it is manifestly called the Immovable Ground. The wisdom of each perfect and correct knowledge is good; that ground is the Ground of Good Intelligence. Like clouds, with the two pervading the Dharma of space, therefore it is called the Cloud of Dharma." Thus. At the time of "After passing the nine grounds is wisdom," the names of the inferior eight grounds.
