It is not like that, but it is established from the way the mind of the subject holds. Even the same dharma, when the mind of the subject holds it as an object to be enjoyed, it becomes the object; when it holds it as the enjoyer, it becomes the subject. Because the three paths of seeing, meditating, and no-more-learning are said to be the object in the case of object-apprehending thought, and the subject in the case of subject-apprehending thought. If you know this key point, you will understand the meaning of what is said in the Ṭīkā (Sanskrit, Ṭīkā, commentary): "Here, the object shown has two aspects: the aspect of affliction and the aspect of purification. The subject has two aspects: dharma and person. Dharma is mind and mental factors, and the person is the person who is held by Maitreya (Sanskrit, Maitreya) as the self of the whole aggregate, and the noble one holds the man who is imputed as merely imputed." Otherwise, even if you search hundreds of times for the difference between the object and the subject, it will only be in vain. Second, there are object-apprehending thought and subject-apprehending thought, which are the cognitive obscurations that manifest attachment to the aspect of the object to be enjoyed, and the cognitive obscurations that manifest attachment to the aspect of the enjoyer. The first has two aspects: manifesting attachment to the aspect to be accepted, and manifesting attachment to the aspect to be abandoned. The latter has two aspects: having true apprehension and not having true apprehension. Third, merely focusing on the object does not become object-apprehending thought, because it only becomes that when attachment manifests to the object to be enjoyed after focusing on it. Merely focusing on the subject does not become subject-apprehending thought, because it only becomes that when attachment manifests to the enjoyer after focusing on it. If it is object-apprehending thought, then it is not pervasive to have a way of holding that is "this is the object," because that mind that manifests attachment to the pot as the knowable does not have a way of holding that is "this pot is the object." If it is subject-apprehending thought, then it is not pervasive to have a way of holding that is "this is the subject," because that mind that manifests attachment to the man as the enjoyer does not have a way of holding that is "this man is the enjoyer." Therefore, our own system is that when something is conceptualized, that thing is divided into object and subject, and the way of holding that holds to the aspect of the object is the way of conceptualizing object-apprehending thought, that is, thinking that one's own object is the object, and holding it as an object to be enjoyed, an object, and a knowable, and so on. Conceptualizing something

When that very object is divided into two, object and subject, the way of holding that holds to the side of the subject is the way of conceptualization of grasping thought, which is to hold that very object as the holder, the enjoyer, the subject, and the knower, and so on. Grasping thought also has two aspects: first, it holds that very object as the object to be abandoned; second, it holds it as the object to be taken. Holding thought also has two aspects: first, it holds that very object as the enjoyer as true; second, it holds that very object as merely the enjoyer without true holding. In short, the key point is that all four are distinguished by the way of holding. Fourth, the definition of conceptualization mentioned here: it is the main thing to be abandoned on the path of the Bodhisattva, which is the clinging mind with the aspect of establishing the way of holding. Fifth, it is called grasping thought because it conceptualizes the object to be grasped, and it is called holding thought because it conceptualizes the object to be held. Is this established from the perspective of the object? Or, it is called grasping thought because the mind conceptualizes the grasped object, and it is called holding thought because the mind conceptualizes the holding object. Is this established from the perspective of the way of holding? The ṭīkā (藏文, टीका,ṭīkā,Commentary) says: Because the mind focuses on the object to be grasped and also conceptualizes it there, it is called grasping thought; because the mind focuses on the object to be held and also conceptualizes it there, it is called holding thought. This is said to be established from the perspective of both the object of focus and the way of holding. After investigation and analysis, this is very reasonable. Although it is mainly established from the perspective of the way of holding, the difference between grasping and holding here has already been shown to be from the perspective of the mind's way of holding. Dar Ṭīkāpa says: It is wrong to establish it as grasping thought because it appears to be true as an object to be enjoyed, and as holding thought because it clings to appearing to be true as the enjoyer, because the imputed holding thought does not have the way of holding of true holding. The meaning of the occasion is this: mainly, the difference between grasping thought and holding thought is explained from the perspective of the way of holding, and on the first point, the meaning of "having the basis as the support and having the antidote as the support" is explicitly stated in the root text of the treatise. The Noble One said: Conceptualization having the support of mere things and having the support of appearances. The teacher said: Afflicted grasping thought and purified grasping thought.
