Secondly, what exists in the continuum of ordinary beings is the nature of the path of liberation, so it is not to be abandoned. It is impossible for these two to occur in the continuum of the noble ones, because in that continuum, once these two types of grasping arise, they are only manifest realizations. So, how should we understand the appearance of imputed grasping thoughts? For example, for a vase, first, a mind that has cut off the superimposition of grasping at truth arises, and now there is no grasping of the mind as to whether it exists as true or not, but a mind that manifestly clings to "this is a vase" arises. But that cannot be a substance-grasping thought, because there is no grasping that grasps at truth. If you understand this point, you will be able to exert the power of both "imputation" and "object" mentioned in the imputed grasping thought. And, from the third chapter, the sign-grasping that grasps at the three bases, paths, and results as signs, and the minds that discriminate in the three spheres mentioned in the Uttaratantra and the Entering the Bodhisattva's Way, will all be understood to be the same in meaning as this. Therefore, regarding the meaning of whether the Hearers and Solitary Realizers have realized the selflessness of phenomena or not, the meaning that Maitreya and Nagarjuna's views are not contradictory can also be understood. If you want to know, please diligently ask Rongton Chenpo and us! Secondly, some say that the Bodhisattva's path of joining here is the nature of the thoughts mentioned, because it is in accordance with the division of ascertainment that appears in the Twenty Thousand Verses, and the first and second are the two aspects of the grasped-at in order, and the third and fourth are also the two aspects of the grasper in order. If you say so, the Bodhisattva's path of joining, it should not be the thoughts mentioned here, because it is not the obscuration of knowledge, which is the main thing to be abandoned on the Bodhisattva's path. Some say that the four thoughts mentioned here are the nature of the four Bodhisattva's paths of joining. If that is the case, then it should not be the main obstacle to obtaining omniscience, and you should not be in the continuum of ordinary beings who have not entered the path and Hearers and Solitary Realizers, because you are the nature of the Bodhisattva's path of joining. Therefore, according to our own system, the four thoughts mentioned here are what the Bodhisattva's path of joining has to abandon, because the four that appear are what the Bodhisattva's path of joining itself abandons.

Here, the four seeds can be eliminated by the path of seeing and the path of meditation, which are brought about by the path of joining. As the commentary on the Twenty Thousand Verses and the Noble Intentions, the Acharya said that it has the meaning of what should be abandoned. In my own conceptualization, although following the order of explaining the scriptures in detail, the Omniscient (Tsongkhapa) has said so before, but in the summary, for the four objects, aspects, causes, and Omniscient, using "with" as a copula, it is said to be a characteristic, and "the four conceptualizations have a basis" means that the characteristic is that the previous four are definite in number, so conceptualization is not a characteristic. Then, why should conceptualization be explained? If it is thought that by means of the four characteristics, it is shown to be more superior than the path of joining of the Lesser Vehicle, then it will become no different from the path of seeing and the path of meditation of the Great Vehicle. There is a difference, because the four conceptualizations mentioned here cannot be actually eliminated, and because they themselves are the nature of conceptualization. This is the effect of "having a basis." This does not agree with the bearded ones of India or the red-faced ones of Tibet, but it agrees with the old deity who sits on the throne of Ganden (དགའ་ལྡན།), so it is considered the best. Third, determining the nature, there are: the object of conceptualization, the nature of conceptualization, the way of conceptualization, the definition of such conceptualization, and the incidental explanation of terms. The first is: the apprehended and the apprehender. The difference between these two, the great translator said: If from the point of view of the sense bases (སྐྱེ་མཆེད་), external sense bases such as form are the apprehended, and internal sense bases such as the eye are the apprehender. If from the point of view of object and subject, matter is the apprehended, and consciousness is the apprehender. If from the point of view of self and what belongs to self, the object of what belongs to self is the apprehended, and the self-grasping is the apprehender. However, the apprehended and the apprehender mentioned here are not from the first point of view, because consciousness is also said to be the apprehended. Nor is it from the second point of view, because ignorance is also said to be the apprehended. Nor is it from the third point of view, because the three paths of seeing, meditation, and no more learning are also said to be the apprehender. The self-system is that the apprehended and the apprehender here, from the object itself
