The action that propels towards the four constant causes, the dharma. It should be its characteristic, because it is what it signifies, because it is a contaminated action. If accepted, then it should not be, because it is a contaminated action that is the cause of its own result, equanimity, because it is that dharma. Fourth, that dharma, it should not be its characteristic, because it is permanent. If not established, then it should be, because its common ground is permanent. The characteristic of cessation truth: the collection of uncontaminated results, and the separate cessation that is the liberation result of its own cause, the uncontaminated uninterrupted path, and the meaning of the collection of four: cessation, peace, excellence, and definite emergence. The meaning of the word cessation is abandoning suffering, the meaning of peace is abandoning afflictions, the meaning of excellence refers to there being nothing more desirable than this. First, realization, wisdom, dharmakaya, dharma. It should be what it signifies, because it is its characteristic. Second, the cessation truth in the continuum of a Bodhisattva who has just attained the tolerance of dharma towards suffering on the Mahayana path of seeing without the prior lower path, dharma. It should be its characteristic, because it is what it signifies. If accepted, then the great supreme dharma of the Mahayana path of joining should be the uninterrupted path, because that is what is accepted. If the root is not established, then it should be, because there is cessation truth in that continuum, because there is abandonment of the abandonment of afflictive obscurations in that continuum. Furthermore, there should be that in that continuum, because if it is the abandonment of afflictive obscurations in the continuum of a Bodhisattva without the prior lower path, then it does not need to have selflessness as its prior cause, because the basis of selflessness that abandons afflictive obscurations is not established in such a Bodhisattva's continuum. Third, that cessation truth in the continuum of a Hearer's path of cultivation, dharma. It should not be what it signifies, because it is not its characteristic, because it is neither cessation, nor peace, nor excellence. The sign is accepted, because it is neither abandoning suffering, nor abandoning afflictions, nor is there anything more desirable than this. The pervasion is accepted. The characteristic of the path truth, some say: the wisdom that realizes selflessness together with its concomitants, and the collection of uncontaminated continuums, and the meaning of the collection of four: reason, accomplishment, determination, and emergence of the path of the noble ones.

After establishing that, the meaning of the path is to lead to the city of liberation, and the meaning of reason is to counteract irrational afflictions. Regarding this system of "doing," firstly, the wisdom realizing selflessness in the continuum of a Bodhisattva on the accumulation path is the expresser, because it possesses that characteristic. Secondly, Shakyamuni Buddha is the expresser, because he possesses that characteristic. Thirdly, omniscience is not the expresser, because that characteristic is not valid, i.e., it is neither a path nor a reason. The sign is accepted, because it neither leads to the city of liberation nor counteracts ignorance and afflictions. The pervasion is accepted. Secondly, the characteristics of these four are, respectively: the aggregates included in samsara, which are the result of either karma or afflictions as their own cause; the contaminated dharmas included in either karma or afflictions, which abide in the category of the cause of the truth of suffering as their own result; the cessation through analysis attained by the power of abandoning what is to be abandoned in one's own share, by the wisdom realizing selflessness; and the wisdom directly realizing selflessness together with its concomitants. Thirdly, regarding examples, the impure container world is an example of the truth of suffering, as stated in the Compendium: "What is the truth of suffering? It should be understood as the birth of sentient beings and the place of birth." The five aggregates of clinging with contamination are also the truth of suffering, as stated in the Commentary on Valid Cognition: "The aggregates are the suffering of cyclic existence." The realms such as Sukhavati are not the truth of suffering, because they are pure realms arising from the power of the compassion and aspirations of the fully enlightened Buddhas. However, the five aggregates of clinging with contamination of the ordinary beings residing there are that, because that person has not abandoned the truth of suffering, and the karma that projects that aggregate is contaminated karma. Contaminated karma and afflictions are examples of the truth of origin, as stated in the Compendium: "What is the truth of origin? Afflictions and the karma arising from the power of afflictions." The Commentary on Valid Cognition says, "It contradicts the explanation of the example of craving." Answer: There is no fault.
