If we juxtapose the nature of entering-into-action bodhicitta with the great vehicle's conventional bodhicitta, then the ultimate bodhicitta of the first ground should be entering-into-action bodhicitta. Because it is an entering-into-action bodhicitta, since it is a bodhicitta that is upheld by the companions of the great vehicle's training. Also, that (the ultimate bodhicitta of the first ground) should be entering-into-action bodhicitta, because it is a great vehicle bodhicitta that is a virtue in the continuum of a bodhisattva, gathered by the discipline of gathering virtuous dharmas, because it is a great vehicle bodhicitta that is gathered by any of the six perfections in the continuum of a noble bodhisattva. In short, there is no bodhisattva training that is not gathered by the three disciplines of abandoning misdeeds, gathering virtuous dharmas, and benefiting sentient beings. Therefore, all bodhicitta that is upheld by them must be established as entering-into-action bodhicitta. Therefore, it should be known that from the bodhisattva's path of joining to the end of the ten grounds, there is absolutely no great vehicle bodhicitta that is not entering-into-action bodhicitta. Therefore, to make the distinction between aspiration and action as merely divisions of conventional bodhicitta is to follow the horns of a rabbit. If some people establish the great vehicle bodhicitta that is not upheld by the companions of the great vehicle's training as the nature of aspiration bodhicitta, then the bodhicitta of the buddha ground should be the subject to be proven, because it is that nature, the reason has already been established above. Secondly, the natures of those two respectively are: whatever great vehicle bodhicitta in the continuum of an ordinary being that is not upheld by the companions of the great vehicle's training, and whatever great vehicle bodhicitta that is upheld by the companions of the great vehicle's training. The difference between these two is established by whether or not they are upheld by the companions of the great vehicle's training. This is the supreme intention of the scriptures, as the "Clear Words of a Dharma Friend" says: "What is called aspiration is merely aspiration, it has not been taken with the rite of generating bodhicitta." The "Compendium of Trainings" says: "Bodhicitta is of two kinds, namely the mind that aspires to enlightenment and the mind that sets out for enlightenment." The "Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life" says: "The distinction between wanting to go and going, how is it known? Likewise, the wise should know the distinction between these two in order." The "Stages of Meditation" says:

Firstly, solely for the benefit of all sentient beings, aspiring to become a Buddha, that which is initially sought is the aspiration Bodhicitta. From the time of taking vows onwards, entering into the two accumulations is the action Bodhicitta. Thirdly, some minor scholars say, any Mahayana Bodhicitta that is embraced by a Mahayana spiritual friend, if that dharma is you, then that dharma must be Mahayana action Bodhicitta, because you are its nature. If you admit, then the action Bodhicitta in the continuum of a Bodhisattva on the path of application, the Mahayana aspiration Bodhicitta is the Mahayana action Bodhicitta, because the Mahayana aspiration Bodhicitta is any Mahayana Bodhicitta that is embraced by a Mahayana spiritual friend. If it is not established, then ask what is not established, and then establish it on the subsequent subject. They say that this reasoning can refute all dharmas that have the characteristic of existence. Then, the subject that you yourself initially took, that subject, the Mahayana aspiration Bodhicitta is you, because that is you. If you admit, then just like taking a rabbit's horn as a subject, the object to be refuted is not it, because it is not it. If it is not established, then ask what is not established, the first is contradictory, the latter is established on the subject. If the root sign is not established, then take the action Bodhicitta in the continuum of a Bodhisattva on the path of application as the subject, and then establish that sign, because of that reason, the three spheres are empty. This reasoning can refute all those who speak in this way. Secondly, there are two: refutation and establishment. The first is, some say that the characteristics of ultimate Bodhicitta and conventional Bodhicitta are respectively, the Mahayana Bodhicitta that directly realizes the selflessness of phenomena, and the Mahayana Bodhicitta that arises from coarse conceptual designations. Then, the Mahayana Bodhicitta included in the subsequent attainment of the second ground, is the ultimate Bodhicitta, because it is that characteristic, because the Mahayana Bodhicitta and the wisdom of the path have the same basis. The Mahayana aspiration Bodhicitta that arises from the power of awakening the Mahayana lineage, is that, because it is conventional Bodhicitta. Some say that the characteristics of those two are respectively, ultimate
