Because it is said: It can be established as reasonable, possessing the nature of one and many, and without nature because of separation. Secondly, the reasoning of the Vajra Splinter is: Inner and outer phenomena, subject, do not arise by their own nature, because they do not arise from themselves, do not arise from others, do not arise from both, and do not arise from no cause. The reason why this is called Vajra Splinter is: Just as each part of a vajra can destroy a rocky mountain, each part of this reasoning can destroy the rocky mountain of false conceptions that speak of things as real. To establish the subject-property of this, four theses are stated in the Root Wisdom, which are established by Buddhapalita in the manner of consequentialism, and by Bhavaviveka in the manner of autonomy. The first is: Inner and outer phenomena, subject, do not arise from themselves, because arising is meaningless, and arising would be endless. They also do not arise from others, because it would follow that everything arises from everything. They also do not arise from both, because it would follow that the faults of both would occur. They do not arise from no cause, because it would follow that everything always arises from everything, and that effort would be meaningless. The classifications of these are five: the consequentialism that states the contradictory inference known to others, the balance of equal reasons, the unestablished because the proof is the same as what is to be proven, and the consequence of having no autonomous thesis. Among these, taking the refutation of self-arising as an example, the inference known to others is: The Samkhya school asserts that clay and pot are one in nature, the pot at the time of clay, subject, arising from a cause that is one in nature with itself is meaningless, because it is already established, like a manifest pot, this is the inference known to others, which refutes based on the opponent's acceptance of the sign and example. The opponent must generate an unmanifest pot, but does not need to generate a manifest pot, because it is already established, if it is said like that, the unmanifest pot, subject, should be so. Because of that, this is the balance of equal reasons. It should follow that there is endless arising, because what is already established must also arise.

If it is already established but still needs to be produced, then birth becomes meaningless, which is a refutation expressing contradiction. If it is said that the vase in the state of clay needs to be produced because it exists in the nature of the cause, then the proof is not established like the proven. The consequence of not having a svatantrika syllogism is for those who assert inherent existence, when arguing about whether something is truly established or not, they will fall into the fault of not having a svatantrika syllogism, because if it exists in that way at that time, then it must be established in reason. Second, the way Legs ldan 'byed (Bhavaviveka) proves through svatantrika: External and internal objects are the subject. In ultimate truth, they do not arise from themselves, because they exist. In ultimate truth, they do not arise from others, because it has already been proven elsewhere. Like a vase. They do not arise from both, because the reasoning for both has already been shown. They do not arise from no cause, because they possess generality and particularity. Like a sprout. Therefore, in the Root Wisdom (Mūlamadhyamakakārikā), it says: "Not from self, not from other." And so on, to prove these four vows, there are two ways of proving: through refutation and through svatantrika. Therefore, it is known as the two, refutation and svatantrika. If one distinguishes by not accepting phenomena established by their own characteristics, etc., it is like smearing the faces of the great Madhyamikas of India with the dust of one's own conceptual thoughts. I will try to explain it separately. Third, the reason for preventing arising from existence and non-existence is: External and internal objects are the subject. They do not arise by nature, because what exists at the time of the cause does not arise, and what does not exist at the time of the cause does not arise. Like space. To establish the property of the subject here, if it is said that what exists at the time of the cause arises, then there are three faults: the fault of mixing cause and effect, the fault of infinite cause and effect, and the fault of no cause. First, because both cause and effect are already established, it is impossible to separately grasp which is the produced and which is the producer. Second, if what is already established also needs to be produced, then it will fall into the fault of infinity. Third, if what exists at the time of the cause arises, then the cause will not benefit the effect, and therefore the effect will become without cause, because the cause has not benefited. If it is said that what does not exist at the time of the cause arises, then that is also unreasonable.
