It is wisdom, because it is a complete combination. However, since it is not the Bodhisattva's own type of realization, when identifying the object of which type of realization it is, the twelve aspects of the first three truths, and the four aspects of the first path in the aspects of the path truth, these sixteen are the realization types of the Hearers, and the eleven aspects of the second and third are the realization types of the Solitary Realizers. Therefore, the twenty-seven aspects of the base knowledge in the continuum of the Lesser Vehicle, and the twenty-seven aspects in the continuum of the Bodhisattva, both appear the same here, but the former is not the main object of display, while the latter is. The second has two aspects, refutation and establishment. First, regarding the contaminated and uncontaminated mentioned here, some consider it to be accompanied or unaccompanied by the thought of confusing sound and meaning, while others consider it to be accompanied or unaccompanied by the contamination of afflictive obscurations. The first view is that the subsequent wisdom of the Solitary Realizer's meditation path, which realizes that the external object of apprehension is unreal, is accompanied by the thought of confusing sound and meaning, because it is the contaminated path mentioned here. It cannot be accepted, because it is yogic direct perception, because it is the wisdom of realizing selflessness in the continuum of the noble ones. The second view is that the meaning of being accompanied or unaccompanied by afflictive obscurations refers to whether or not the afflictive obscurations have been abandoned, or whether or not afflictive obscurations exist in its own nature. According to the first view, the Hearer's path of seeing, the uninterrupted path, is not the uncontaminated path mentioned here, because it has not abandoned afflictive obscurations. According to the latter view, the Solitary Realizer's previous meditation path has afflictive obscurations in its own nature, because it is the contaminated path mentioned here. It cannot be accepted, because it is yogic direct perception. The second view is that the equipoise in the continuum of the noble ones is uncontaminated, and its subsequent attainment is contaminated, because the teacher considers the second chapter, and the meaning of the aspects of the base knowledge here and below, to be the same in the three summaries regarding the distinction between contaminated and uncontaminated. The aspects of the path knowledge and the all-knowing wisdom are not the same as the specific reasons given here, and the key point must be understood. Therefore, the distinction between contaminated and uncontaminated here is also in the continuum of the Lesser Vehicle, but not in the continuum of the Bodhisattva.

It is established only as a type of understanding. Thirdly, there are two aspects: refutation and establishment. Firstly, some say, is it the case that whatever obscuration is rooted in the clinging to a self of persons is the primary obstacle to attaining liberation, and whatever obscuration is rooted in the clinging to a self of phenomena is the primary obstacle to attaining omniscience? Some say, the afflictive obscuration, the subject, should be the cognitive obscuration, because of that characteristic. If the former is not established, then it should be the latter, because it is an obscuration that arises from the continuum of clinging to a self of phenomena, that is, it is an obscuration that arises from the cause of conceptual thought in the three spheres. If it is not established, then it should be the latter, as it is said in the Root Wisdom: "Actions and afflictions arise from conceptual thought." The latter part of the reason should be that, because to attain it, you must primarily abandon it. If it is not established, then it should be that, because to attain it, both obscurations must be primarily abandoned. If that, the subject, should not be the primary obstacle to attaining omniscience, because there are those who have exhausted it but have not attained omniscience. If you say that, then the cognitive obscuration that is abandoned by seeing is not definite. Also, the conceptual thought of clinging to substance that is abandoned by seeing in terms of persons, the subject, should be the afflictive obscuration, because of that characteristic. The first should be that, because the mind that clings to what exists substantially as true, arises from the mind that clings to the aggregates as a person. If the latter part is not established, then that, the subject, should be that, because it is the primary obstacle to attaining the liberation of the Great Vehicle, that is, because the conceptual thought that is abandoned by seeing is manifest. Although there are such criticisms, it is thought to be unreasonable because it contradicts the quote from the Lankavatara Sutra cited above. Also, some say, the clinging to a self of persons, the subject, should be rooted in the clinging to a self of persons, because it is an afflictive obscuration. The clinging to a self of phenomena, the subject, should be rooted in the clinging to a self of phenomena, because it is a cognitive obscuration. If you accept that, then those two, the subject, should not be rooted in clinging to you as you, because you are not different from you. They say that. Ignorance, the subject, should not be a phenomenon of samsara, because it is not rooted in ignorance. The reason is accepted, because you are not rooted in you, that is, because you are not different from you.
