Because those three are not that, it cannot be allowed, because it is said: This action is the path of meditation. Second, there are four points: essence, object, classification, and boundary. The first point is: What is the contaminated path of meditation of the Mahayana? From the cause of scripture and reasoning, the source of the three meanings of the Prajnaparamita, the faith that holds with absolute certainty, together with its corresponding factors. Second, there are two: the actual object and the object to be done intentionally. The first is: having the expression of Prajnaparamita. The second is: self-interest, dual-interest, and other-interest. Third, regarding the characteristics of the three paths of aspiration in order: What is the path of aspiration of the Great Vehicle? Accomplishing the benefit of others with intention, and mainly accomplishing self-interest with action; and, what is it that intention accomplishes the benefit of others, and action accomplishes the equality of both self and others; and, what is it that both intention and action mainly accomplish the benefit of others. Each of these also has nine types, such as small of small. Fourth, the path of aspiration for self-interest is between the post-attainment of the second ground and the post-attainment of the seventh ground, because there, since the afflicted mind has not been abandoned, subtle pride in self may arise. The path of aspiration for dual-interest is in the post-attainment of the eighth and ninth grounds, because there, the afflicted mind has been transformed into abiding, and thus realizes the equality of self and others. The path of aspiration for the benefit of others is in the post-attainment of the tenth ground, because the Bodhisattva abiding there performs the benefit of others in the post-attainment in the same way as the Buddha. Third, stating one's own view: When explaining the knowledge of the path, because this path of meditation of the Great Vehicle is taught from the perspective of what a Bodhisattva should know, the way of teaching by dividing the essence into equipoise and post-attainment should be well distinguished, and it must be taught from the aspect of object and aspect, therefore the classification spoken of in the stage of aspiration in post-attainment should also be combined with dedication and subsequent rejoicing. And in the stage of those two, such as "That is an aspect without an object," and "With means and without objects, etc.," the object and aspect spoken of should also be combined with aspiration. And in equipoise, the object and aspect spoken of in the stage of accomplishing the path of meditation should also be combined with the pure path of meditation. Pure

Regarding the stages of the path of meditation, the division into nine aspects that is spoken of should also be applied to the path of practice and meditation. Therefore, just as the division of equipoise into nine, such as the smallest of the small, is a distinction of the equipoise from the second to the tenth ground, so too, the division of post-meditation into nine, such as the smallest of the small, is also a distinction of the post-meditation from the second to the tenth ground. Therefore, each of the three kinds of faith must also be established between the post-meditation of the second ground and the post-meditation of the tenth ground, because each of them is said to have nine divisions, such as the smallest of the small. The division into three is not a division from the perspective of function, but a division from the perspective of apprehension. That is, in the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, faith is established as self-benefit faith, which is the source of perfect self-benefit, and two-benefit faith, which is the source of those two benefits, and other-benefit faith, which is the source of other-benefit, so it is divided from the perspective of opposition. The fundamental intention is just like this. Otherwise, if each of the three were divided into nine, such as the smallest of the small, it would be unnecessary. And, if in the context of the Ornament for Clear Realization, one accepts the establishment of non-abandonment of afflicted mind below the seventh ground, then it contradicts the completion of abandonment and realization of Hearers and Solitary Realizers from the first ground, because when establishing the afflicted mind, it is said that Hearer and Solitary Realizer Arhats have abandoned the afflicted mind. In the section on "Especially Dedicated Dedication," there are two analyses: an analysis of the nature of dedication as the path of meditation, and an analysis of the root of virtue to be dedicated. The first is: Some say that the contaminated path of meditation of the Great Vehicle is the seventh with its corresponding factors, which transforms the root of virtue accumulated by faith into the cause of perfect enlightenment. Others say that it is the establishment of the root of virtue of oneself and others, etc. Regarding the first statement, the dedication of the root of virtue of equipoise to perfect enlightenment immediately after a Bodhisattva of the second ground arises from equipoise is the Dharma, and it has that nature, because it is the object to be expressed. If one accepts this, then there should be a path of faith and meditation before the equipoise of the second ground. Regarding the second statement, the dedication of the root of virtue of the self-continuum of a Bodhisattva of the second ground alone to the cause of perfect enlightenment is the Dharma, and it has that nature.
