It is not a mixed grasping thought, because it is not a mind with manifest clinging. It is also not a thought of mixed sound and meaning, because it and non-conceptual knowledge have a common basis, because all consciousness in the continuum of ordinary beings is like that. Furthermore, it is not the knowledge obscuration, which is the main object to be abandoned on the Bodhisattva path, because if it were, it would have to be one of the four types of grasping and apprehending thoughts, and if it were any of those four, it would have to be a thought of mixed sound and meaning. Therefore, it is not clinging to the two, grasper and grasped, but merely appearing as the two, grasper and grasped, is merely labeled with the name of thought, because only the unreal pervasive thought is made into thought. Thirdly, some say, that phenomenon, it follows that it is the knowledge obscuration that is the main object to be abandoned on the Bodhisattva path, because it is the knowledge obscuration in the continuum of noble Bodhisattvas. If so, the latent tendencies of afflictions in the continuum of noble Bodhisattvas, that phenomenon, it follows that it is so, because of that reason. Some, relying solely on the words "thought of knowledge obscuration" in the Tika, consider this to be a thought of imputation, and therefore believe that in the continuum of Bodhisattvas abiding on the path of faith and the path of meditation, there is a thought of imputation, and that the mind consciousness, which is the nature of the path of faith and the path of meditation, are two different entities, which is very wrong, because it contradicts "sentient beings are each a continuum of consciousness." If this is considered a thought of imputation, it also contradicts the self-established tenet that there is no thought of mixed sound and meaning above the eighth ground, because if it is a thought of imputation, it must be a thought of mixed sound and meaning, which is the view of the Tika. Furthermore, some say that in the Tika, it is said that there is no thought of mixed sound and meaning above the eighth ground, and here it is considered to be the thought of knowledge obscuration that appears as the two, grasper and grasped, which is contradictory, because if it is any of the four types of grasping and apprehending thoughts, it must be a thought of mixed sound and meaning, which is the system of the Tika, this statement is irrelevant, because here it is not considered to be any of the four types of grasping and apprehending thoughts. Thirdly, there are two ways of abandoning: the general way of abandoning and the way of abandoning for each individual.

Among the three of refutation, establishment, and abandonment, firstly, some say that according to the upper Abhidharma, when the antidote arises, it manifestly tends towards it, and when what is to be abandoned ceases, it manifestly tends towards it, the two being simultaneous. Therefore, the future arising abandons the present to be abandoned. According to the lower Abhidharma, the abandoned and the antidote both arise and cease simultaneously, so the present ceasing abandons what is to be abandoned. The former is unreasonable because the future antidote is unborn, so the function of abandoning what is to be abandoned does not exist. Some say that the antidote does not abandon the manifest of what is to be abandoned, because it has passed away, the future is unborn, and the present does not exist simultaneously with the path. If so, then it should be established that light does not dispel darkness, because it has passed away, the future is unborn, and the present does not exist simultaneously with light. Furthermore, it should be established that the manifest of what is to be abandoned is abandoned, because it directly harms its seed, making it a dharma of non-rebirth. Some say that at the time of the path of seeing and the path of no-more-learning, there is no abandonment of seeing of that aspect, because the two cannot exist simultaneously in the continuum of one person. Similarly, in the state of the peak application of the path of no-more-learning, there is no defilement of the afflictive obscurations of that aspect. If so, then the abandonment of seeing of the aspect of the path of no-more-learning of the Great Vehicle should be established as existing in the continuum of the practitioner of the Great Vehicle's path of application, because there is such a thing, because it does not exist in the continuum of the path of seeing. If you admit it, then that dharma of that continuum should be established as immediately producing the cessation by discrimination that you have abandoned, because you are the abandonment of seeing of the aspect of the path of no-more-learning. The sign is admitted. If you admit it, then it should be established that at the time of the path of seeing and the path of no-more-learning, there exists the cessation by discrimination of that which is abandoned. Furthermore, the nature of the mind in the continuum of a bodhisattva of constant extremes should be established as not being the tathāgatagarbha with defilements, because that mind is not a consciousness with defilements, because there are no defilements in that continuum. The sign is admitted. If you admit the root, then it should be established that it is the tathāgatagarbha without defilements. Secondly, the antidote does not abandon by directly harming the manifest of what is to be abandoned, because the antidote and the manifest of what is to be abandoned
