Lord Maitreya said, "Prevent all kinds of manifest clinging." And, "The notion of acting in the emptiness of form and other aggregates is inappropriate." And, "Whatever is neither existent nor non-existent, neither both nor different from both, cannot be investigated, is beyond definition, and is the pacification of individual self-awareness." Similarly, in the treatises of Nāgārjuna and his spiritual sons, as previously quoted, all statements about being free from the four extremes become wrong conceptions. Likewise, all the definitive sūtras and the pure treatises of the wise and accomplished masters of India, as well as all the great scholars and accomplished beings of Tibet, unanimously agree that whatever is clung to is what is to be refuted. Isn't this wrong conception too extreme? Please examine it well and speak out. Now, let's summarize the key points and make them firm: When ordinary beings examine reality, they first use reasoning such as one and different to negate the first extreme—truth. At that time, the function of that reasoning is to negate truth, so manifestly clinging to non-truth is not a fault, because the conceptual thought negates truth and does not go beyond manifestly clinging to non-truth. Relative to later wisdom, this itself is a fault, because without finding the object of clinging—non-truth itself—it is necessary to negate the very clinging to non-truth. At that time, the function of that wisdom is to negate clinging to non-truth, so manifestly clinging to "not non-truth" is not a fault, similar to the previous one. Similarly, relative to the third wisdom, it becomes a fault, so the third wisdom also negates manifestly clinging to "not non-truth." Similarly, relative to the fourth wisdom, it becomes a fault, so the fourth wisdom also negates it. In short, it is to negate the four extremes in sequence. Since there cannot be a way of clinging after the fourth, it will not become endless. When this reasoning becomes familiar and directly realizes reality, the elaborations of the four extremes will not arise, so it is not necessary to negate from the main aspect. In the subsequent attainment of the seventh ground and below, whenever clinging arises, it must be negated, similar to the previous one. Secondly, from the aspect of reasoning, the five reasonings such as one and different are to examine whether the essence is one or many from the perspective of the object to be examined and refuted.

Slightly abbreviated. The analysis of the cause is the Vajra Splinter (rdo rje gzegs ma). The analysis of the result is existence and non-existence, arising and ceasing. The analysis of both is the four possibilities of arising and ceasing. The analysis of everything is the reasoning of dependent origination, thus establishing the name. From the perspective of reasoning, the first is the non-affirming of the four possibilities, and the latter is the reasoning of contradictory affirmation, such names were established by ancient scholars. However, the latter can be applied to refute what truly exists, and it can also be applied to refute what does not exist in conventional terms, therefore, the former I think is contradictory affirmation, and the latter I think is the reasoning of self-nature. These five, regarding the way of refuting the object to be refuted, and the way of establishing the three aspects, will be explained in detail later when explaining the selflessness of phenomena. And the Consequentialists consider it to be the subsequent inference accepted by others, and the Autonomists consider it to be the reason of their own system, this difference will be explained in the difference between Consequentialism and Autonomy. So, is the rationality of the reasoning that refutes the first extreme, or the proof, or the reason, merely consequential, or is it autonomous? If you think so, then as an answer: Third, from the perspective of the way of explanation, there are five points to explain the reasoning of Consequentialism and Autonomy: List the explanation methods in the treatises of Indian scholars as the basis for research. Secondly, how did the previous scholars analyze. Third, divide these analyses into reasonable and unreasonable parts. Fourth, refute in detail the distinctions arbitrarily established later. Fifth, combine the proof to explain the reasonable aspects of one's own system. The first point is: Regarding the four tenets of refuting the four extremes of arising and ceasing in the Root Wisdom Treatise, first, Master Buddhapālita said: Things do not arise from themselves, because their arising would become meaningless and would become very excessive. For things that already exist in themselves, there is no need to arise again. If they already exist and still arise, then they will never stop arising. And so on, thus proclaiming the distinctions of consequences. To this, Master Bhāviveka said: This is not reasonable, because the reason and example have not been stated, nor have the faults stated by others been eliminated, and because it is a consequential statement, because it is contrary to the current topic, so what is to be established and its dharma
