Therefore, with a mother's gentle heart and altruistic thoughts, one should use strict actions to drive away all mundane and non-mundane distractions, thereby causing them to abandon evil deeds. Second, to protect from the inner supporting conditions, that is, a perfect state of mind: one should think that one should not commit evil deeds because one possesses a noble lineage, excellent qualities, special marks, and dignified appearance; and because one has a Khenpo, Acharya, and like-minded Dharma friends, one will feel ashamed and should not commit evil deeds, one should generate such a sense of shame; one should also possess special conscientiousness; for any actions of body and speech, whatever one does, one should first separately consider whether this matter is feasible; when starting to do it, one should immediately think whether this matter is appropriate or inappropriate, one should possess such mindfulness; and one should not forget these goals and states, one should protect through remembrance. As it is said in the Root Sutra: "For all the entrances to the gates of transgression, one should accomplish them with mindfulness." When afflictions are strong and arise for a long time, one also needs strong and lasting diligence and firm mindfulness. As it is said in the Pratimoksha Sutra: "O fortunate ones, you should practice yoga with mindfulness." Therefore, to protect the fortress of precepts, one should, like a sentinel, observe one's own mind stream with mindfulness, observing whether the enemy of afflictions that should be abandoned has entered the mind stream. If it has entered, one should not allow a diligent person like a gatekeeper to enter. If one cannot prevent it, one should, like a warrior, hold a weapon with the antidote of mindfulness to prevent it, so that one can protect the fortress of precepts from being lost, then this mind stream can be happy at any time or in any situation. Third, to protect from the aspect of recognizing the opposing factors that should be abandoned. There are two kinds of opposing factors: opposing factors that are contrary to the general vows, and opposing factors that are contrary to individual vows. The first is: the reason for abandoning all the antidotes in the mind stream, completely abandoning them, abandoning them without remainder. As it is said in the Tattvasiddhi Sutra: "Giving up the training, and death, and the appearance of two genders, and cutting the root and transgressing the boundary, one will abandon the vows of individual liberation." And as it is said in the Root Sutra: "If one knows, it will disappear." For those who are not yet twenty years old,

Through understanding, one abandons the vows. For the first two vows, due to the implication of "not being lost," even if the two names become three times and the vows are abandoned, if one desires the vows like a friend of a virtuous student, then those abandoned due to reliance and commitment are the common causes for abandoning vows, because all schools consider that to be the cause for abandoning vows. Some argue that the occurrence of a root downfall and the decline of the true Dharma should not be considered common causes for abandonment, because some consider them causes for abandoning vows, while others do not. Among these, offering the precepts is to a person who possesses a conventional object, motivated by the intention to offer one's own precepts, and offered through the actions of body and speech. If the object understands the meaning, then it is abandoning the vows, as the Edge of Accomplishment says: "Abandonment is the abandonment of the mind. By all who understand, if words can make people understand." It is said. Although there is a need for the continuum not to be defiled by defeat, it is important not to offer if a friend becomes reliable, recognizing the opposing side as hostile, as the Immaculate Sutra says: "If one offers the vows once, one will be reborn as a human being for five hundred lifetimes, and even if one takes the vows, one must offer them that many times." The second has two parts: the general meaning of the five sections and their individual definitions. The first has ten meanings: the classification of downfalls, the collection, the definite number, the definite order, the meaning of the names, the definition, the benefits of establishing the precepts, what happens if one transgresses and violates them, the benefits of guarding, and the faults of not guarding. The first has two parts: classification from the perspective of the basis of the precepts and classification from the perspective of the precepts that have been established. The first is as stated in the Treasury: "Five, eight, and ten to be abandoned, and from vowing to abandon everything, lay practitioners, lay residents, novices, and monks themselves." The second is that if classified from the perspective of mere nature, it is immeasurable, but if classified by the differences between the parents of monks, it is two hundred and fifty-three and three hundred and sixty-four. The second, the collection, is: the basis, the arising, and the gate of birth, the action and the cause of becoming the agent, the state.
