There are two ways of entering. Perfection has three characteristics. Learning and not learning, arising of wisdom, and abiding, relying, entering, falling, one should know. Thus, it should be understood on the basis of the scriptures. The sick, compassion, etc., are beneficial to the retinue. In short, the scriptures say that discipline, wisdom, and benefiting the retinue are the three. Such a person can be taken as a teacher of reliance. The second is, in the "Three Hundred Verses," it says: "Respect the guru, discipline is completely pure, meditation and recitation are constantly diligent, strict and gentle, possessing patience, know that they are those who guard vows, abide, and possess the Dharma." This speaks of the perfect qualities of the disciple. What is necessary is that the ordained person possesses the vows of the five sections, up to the point where they can be restored, the name and view are consistent, possessing the three terms, the body abides in a normal state, not expelled from the place of reliance, not a beginner in karma, not possessing two dharmas. The third is, with a firm mind of nirvana, one abides in the place of reliance. The fourth is, until the end of life, or after oneself has taken full ordination, having continuously completed ten years, and possessing any one of the twenty-one combinations of five groups, one abides in the place of reliance until one has not become a possessor of two dharmas. The fifth has three parts: combination, main part, and subsequent part. First, through questioning, etc., one examines whether one is suitable to be a dependent. If the student is older, like the aforementioned dependent, he should respectfully prostrate three times, and then hold the soles of the dependent guru's feet with his own hands, and sit squatting. It is said that the young do not need to prostrate, and other behaviors are the same. Second, if there was no Dharma connection before, say: "Venerable, please listen. I, the monk, named so-and-so, request the Venerable to be my dependent, request the Venerable to be my dependent teacher, I will rely on the Venerable." Say this three times. Third, the conclusion is that the place is the method. The one being relied upon says "Very good." If there is a Dharma connection, say "Teacher, please listen." For the Khenpo, it is not necessary to rely through rituals, it is enough to report matters. The way of reporting matters is that, except for special circumstances, everything that the body and speech do from morning to night must be reported to the dependent guru, so that there is a sense of shame.

It is a special method to make thoughts progress more and more. The practice is to prostrate three times to the abbot of the residence, sit upright, and inform the root guru or khenpo: I, the monk, named so-and-so, have I properly requested the order of age and umbrella? Am I proficient in the Dharma? Do I serve? Do I retire to bed later? Do I sleep later? Do I try my best to do good deeds in the morning and evening? And I request to do all other things that should be done. Say this once. The entrant should act cautiously. Be smart in behavior, and abide within one boundary with the feeling of father and son. This shows how to practice the activities of one day and night. If the residence and the disciple are together in one place, then the morning, afternoon, and evening, these three times should also be consulted. If separated by a distance of one shout, then consult once a day. If separated by a distance of five shouts, then consult once every five or six days. If separated by a distance of three and a half "krośas" (Sanskrit: krośa, an ancient Indian unit of length, approximately 1.5-3 kilometers), then also know to consult once every half month. A special case is that when the two main months of summer have already been promised, and the abbot of the residence has passed away, or there is a punitive action such as being expelled from the residence, then there is no fault even without a residence. At other times, when starting to look for a residence, within five or six days, or on the first day of sudden arrival, there is no fault without a residence. If it is a member of another monastic community, also know how to change the word "monk" in "I, the monk, named so-and-so" to another title. Sixth, it is necessary to prevent the fault of not having a residence and to perfect the precepts. Seventh, cut off the prayer of birth, etc., which does not depend on both, is the cause of destruction, and the actions such as the residence and the boundary being different are the cause of destruction. Rely on the abbot of the residence who has virtues, and do all actions according to his words, so that the continuum is not stained by faults. If, due to the proximity of the place, some improper behavior stains the continuum, then it must be remedied according to the situation, and if it is left without remedy, then the abbot of the residence
