No. The meaning of 'unrefuted' is that it is not refuted by the four valid cognitions. Secondly, regarding the necessity of the word 'nature': For distinction, the opponent distinguishes that the other-defined thesis that has been established is correct; for pervasion, if the other-defined thesis is correct, then there must be one that is not established, this is to explain this point. Regarding the necessity of the word 'only': For distinction, it distinguishes that the unestablished proof is that; for pervasion, if it is that, then among the thesis and the proof, it is not established as the proof, but must be only the thesis, this is to explain this point. Regarding the necessity of the word 'self', there are two types: establishing one's own system and refuting others' systems. First, for distinction, it distinguishes that all the arguments that the opponent has not committed to are that; for pervasion, if it is that, then it must be something that the opponent himself has committed to, this is to explain this point. Secondly, some disciples of Dignāga say that it is unreasonable to say the word 'self' in order to know that the opponent engages in acceptance and rejection merely because he likes the treatise, because if the opponent is a wise person, he would not do that merely because he likes the treatise, and if the opponent is a fool, he would not do that either. Some say that it is unreasonable to say the word 'self' in order to know that both the opponent and the re-opponent are very famous subjects, because this can be understood when examining the qualities on the basis of the qualified. Some say that it is also unreasonable to say the word 'self' in order to know that the established subject is not the thesis, because this can be understood by the word 'nature'. Some say that it is also unreasonable to say the word 'self' in order to know that the unestablished subject is not the thesis, because from the perspective that the subject has not been established by valid cognition, adding what has been refuted by valid cognition to the proposition is different from the kind that has not been refuted, and from the perspective that it has not been established by valid cognition, the unestablished property of the subject is a fault of the reason, not a fault of the subject. Regarding the necessity of the word 'acceptance': For distinction, if the other-defined thesis is, then it must be stated verbally, making a distinction; for pervasion, even if it is not stated verbally, if it is the meaning of the collection of dharma and subject that is intended in the mind, then it pervades the other-defined thesis, this is to explain this point. So, what kind of opponent is it that accepts in this way? The Samkhya school believes that the eyes, etc., are for the use of the self.

Wanting to establish that it can function, when writing "eye etc. dharma, doing benefit to others", if eye etc. doing self-benefit is the thesis, because of worrying about the fault of not following the dharma example and contradicting the thesis, so it is not mentioned in those, therefore it is not the thesis. It is considered that eye etc. doing benefit to others is the thesis. Regarding this, there are two types: determining the argument and determining its reason, dharma, and meaning of the three. The first is: the Samkhya school believes that, in general, the knowable is determined to be twenty-five types, the first twenty-four are matter, food, and things to be used are the objects to be taken, and the last one is: knowledge, awareness, self, purusha, experiencer, enjoyer, and eater. Regarding this, wanting to establish that the first twenty-four are the food of the self, therefore, write the false argument like this: eye etc. dharma, having non-aggregate objects, doing benefit to others, because it is an aggregate accumulation, this is said from the aspect of the difference of dharma. Eye etc. dharma of non-aggregate objects, doing benefit to others, because it is an aggregate accumulation, for example, bedding and cushions etc., this is said from the aspect of the difference of the subject. The second type has three meanings: reason, dharma, and subject. The first is: some people say that the meaning of aggregate accumulation refers to the aggregation of three conditions, which is unreasonable, because this will lead to the non-establishment of the similar instance of the reason desired by the Samkhya school. Therefore, not accumulating dust is reasonable, because the Samkhya school believes that the twenty-four knowables are matter. The second is that the "other" in "doing benefit to others" refers to knowledge other than matter, I think it refers to the self, the purusha of knowledge. The so-called "functioning" means benefiting him through enjoyment, which can be known from the examples of bedding and cushions. The third is: some people think that removing the object-condition and the immediately preceding condition from the category of eye etc., and taking the three conditions as the subject is unreasonable, because the Samkhya school does not want to establish that the three conditions do self-benefit. Some people say that removing the twenty-three knowables is reasonable for the former school, but unreasonable for the latter school, because the latter Buddhist school believes that awareness or the great is not an aggregate accumulation.
