Because it must be destroyed. If it is thought that whatever becomes that and that's own nature must depend on other later arising causes, then it pervades being uncertain to that and that. For example, like a colored cloth. The destruction of a pot is also admitted to be dependent on other later arising causes. This is a consequentialist argument that negates dependence with certainty. The second is, after that, if it is certain to be that and that's own nature, then it pervades not depending on other later arising causes. For example, like the last moment of a candle extinguishing not depending on other later arising causes. The pot will also definitely be destroyed. This is a Svātantrika argument that negates dependence with certainty. The third is, when it is established, whatever becomes that and that, not depending on other later arising causes, but arising from a cause, then it pervades being certain of its own nature from the moment of establishment. For example, like the last collection of causes for a sprout definitely producing a sprout from the moment of establishment. The pot also arises from its own cause, not depending on other later arising causes, but arising from the cause of the pot. This is a way of reasoning, or rather, for things, not only will they ultimately be destroyed, but also the way in which the subsequent pervasion of being pervaded by destruction from the moment of establishment is established, which is the sign of own nature. For these, when dependence is negated with certainty earlier, the necessity of general destruction alone becomes a sign. When certainty is proven with non-dependence, then it is proven that it will definitely be destroyed from the moment of establishment. Although these two situations are no different for the previous debater, there is a way in which there is a difference for the later debater, and the way of combining with the text of the Three Vows Commentary, and the way in which only the middle one is considered as a reason here, these should be understood from oral instruction. A person who understands the intention of Sakya Paṇḍita as it is, is not seen anywhere else. Third, there are three: determining the three aspects, determining the number, and the necessity of what is said. The first is: the previous property of the subject is similar to the sign of own nature. The later property of the subject, or here, destruction is established from the sign of non-apprehension. This is established through the power of inference. The pervasion relationship of both is actually established by relying on mutual exclusion and contradiction. Ultimately, it is established by relying on the relationship of a single entity. The second is: it is determined as two.

Things are not of a definite number, like "Sound, the subject, is not permanent, because it is produced." Like that, there are limitless things that are not included in those two. Therefore, it is a definite number depending on intention. The former was stated in order to prove the subsequent pervasion of proving sound impermanent by the cause of being produced. The latter was stated in order to understand that from the cause of a complete number of causal aggregates, one can only prove that a result is possible to arise, but cannot prove that a result is certain to arise. The third is, that which has already been stated. Second, in the valid reason of nature, there are three: definition, division, and establishment. The first is: on the subject of debate, it is the proving reason that fulfills the three aspects by proving that the desired object of proof is non-different in essence from itself. Second, there are two divisions: division from the perspective of the sign and division from the perspective of what is to be proven. The first is: In the Commentary on Valid Cognition, it says, "Nature, difference, and distinction, dependent or merely unique." And in the Ascertainment of Valid Cognition, it says, "By differences and dependencies." Although it seems that Tibetans have made many differences in the terminology of these two, according to the view of this treatise, there are two types: the valid sign of nature that does not depend on differences, and the valid sign of nature that depends on differences. The first is like establishing existence as a sign to prove that sound is impermanent. The second has two types: depending on the distinction of one's own qualities, and depending on the qualities of another relation. The first has two types: depending on what is contained within, like establishing "produced," and depending on what is explicitly stated, like establishing differences due to the distinctions of conditions. The second is like establishing the non-difference of essence distinguished by birth. Second, dividing from the perspective of what is to be proven, there are two types: proving the meaning and proving the term. The first is like establishing "produced" to prove that sound is impermanent. The second is like establishing "momentary." So, to which reason do those that the non-Buddhists consider as other reasons, such as proving that a result is possible to arise from the cause of a complete number of causal aggregates, and proving conditioned smoke from the cause of the unimpeded ability of the cause of smoke, belong? They all belong to the category of the valid reason of nature. Third, in terms of establishment, there are three aspects.
