There are three statements of distinction with definite grasping and three statements of distinction without definite grasping. The first are, in order: the statements such as "Sound is only what is made," "Sound is the only thing to be heard," and "Having blue in a lotus is the only possibility." The second has three statements of distinction with only the basis of distinction, and three statements of distinction with the basis of distinction and the distinguishing characteristic combined. The first is that the single statement "pot" contains all three. The latter are statements such as, when asked whether black runs fast or not, the statement "black runs fast"; when asked whether black or existence runs fast, the statement "existence runs fast"; and when asked whether a lotus has blue or not, the statement "a lotus has blue." The third, to ascertain its meaning, has three: showing that the actual object expressed by sound is not a real thing; the way of conventionally agreeing due to being mistaken about a non-existent basis; and the reason for obtaining a self-character by conventionally agreeing on a non-existent basis. The first is that the actual object expressed by sound is not a real thing, because all knowable things are included in four: the self-character of things, the self-character of knowledge, the general characteristic of things, and the general characteristic of sound. The first two are not the actual object expressed, and the latter two are not real things. The second is that although there is no external object in reality, one conventionally agrees because of the mistaken belief by conceptualization that there is an external object, because due to the power of beginningless habitual tendencies, conceptualization is inherently mistaken, and from the sound "pot" arises an appearance that seems to be a pot, and although that appearance is not a pot, one is mistaken that it is a pot, and therefore one conventionally agrees, saying, "This is a pot." If one does not grasp this key point, the proponents of inner and outer tenets will not have the way of identifying objects as previously explained, and this is also the extremely subtle key point of the reasoning of the glorious Dharmakirti and his son. The third is that by conventionally agreeing on the mistaken belief in a single appearance-assumption, one will obtain a self-character, because at the time of conventionally agreeing, one is also mistaken in a single appearance-assumption and conventionally agrees, and at the time of terminology, one is also mistaken in a single appearance-assumption and applies it, so whatever one obtains, because there is nothing to be obtained on superimposition.

Before the Lama, it is said that two dharmas cannot be one, and since essence is not established in opposition, merely speaking of opposition establishes the entity of error. Thus, it is said that if one has good fortune, there is no meaning in not understanding. Third, in terms of refuting arguments, it is said that there are five aspects, such as considering the general characteristic of entities as the object of expression and refuting similarities, which will be understood in the context of the meaning of the Treatise on the Treasury of Logic. The chapter on examining the object of expression and the means of expression, the fifth, has been explained. Fourth, there are two ways of understanding connection and contradiction: the establishment of connection and the establishment of contradiction. The first has three aspects: negating connection in terms of meaning, establishing connection in terms of mind, and explaining the valid cognition that establishes connection. The first has two aspects: general negation and specific negation. The first is: there is no connection in terms of meaning, because connection in terms of meaning is not established in entities, nor is connection in terms of meaning established in non-entities. The first is established because entities are clearly divided into self and other, and the self exists without mixing with the other, and the other exists without mixing with the self, and there is no third element between them. Therefore, there is no connection in terms of meaning for the self-characteristics of entities, because it is impossible for multiple natures to mix into one, as the Samkhya school believes, and the clear self-characteristic itself has no connection with itself. As it is said in the Examination of Connection: If connection exists only under the control of another, then what is the use of the control of another? Therefore, there is actually no connection between all entities. Some Tibetans say that real connection is established in non-entities, otherwise, in the reason of one and many being separate, if the probandum does not exist in entities, then real connection is impossible; if the negandum does not exist in meaning, then contradictory connection is also impossible, then there will be a valid reason for the complete absence of connection. Therefore, although real connection exists in non-entities, it cannot be determined, so it must be determined by relying on contradictory connection. This is what they say. This is not reasonable, because if non-entities have a real connection of the same essence, then they will become entities of nature; if they have a real connection arising from this, then they will become entities of cause and effect. Furthermore, for both entities and non-entities, the definition of connection is not established in ultimate truth, because the definition of connection
