There are four cases: attributing a specific name to a general name, attributing a collective name to a part, and attributing a part name to a collective. The first case is like attributing "form" to the object of eye consciousness. The second case is like attributing "sense consciousness" to the consciousness arising from three conditions. The third case is like attributing "letter-induced consciousness heard by ear consciousness" to the sound heard by ear consciousness arising from the parts of letters, and like calling one side of a cloth burned as "the cloth is burned." The fourth case is like the sound of a drum and the sprout of barley. The second type is divided into two: attributing the name of the cause to the effect, and attributing the name of the effect to the cause. The first case is like attributing "sun" to the rays of the sun. The second case is like attributing "inference" to correct argumentative language. Furthermore, names can be divided into two types: explanatory names with reasons and applicative names with reasons. The first case is like the name "Buddha." The second case is like the name "tree." If we take the name "ocean-born" as an example, these two cases can be divided into four possibilities: having both explanation and application, having neither, having explanation but no application, and having application but no explanation. The first case is like a lotus born from the ocean. The second case is like a stone. The third case is like a frog born from the ocean. The fourth case is like a lotus born from dry land. If we ask which of these two cases is a real name and which is a nominal name, then the explanatory name with reasons has both real and nominal names, while the latter is clearly only a real name. The definition of a word: the general sound that appears to be able to show the essence and differences of things from the combination of multiple names. The definition of speech, distinguished from word: the general sound that appears to be able to show the essence and differences of things from the combination of multiple words, and also appears as the object of acceptance and rejection by people. Furthermore, names, words, and speech can all be divided into: first, stating the essence; second, action; third, agent; fourth, purpose; fifth, source; sixth, relationship; seventh, location; eighth, calling and stating, there are eight types. The first case is like the name "tree." The second case is like the sentence "there is action on the tree." The third case is like the sentence "the tree is burned by fire."

Fourth, it is like saying "water the tree." Fifth, it is like saying "fruit comes from the tree." Sixth, it is like saying "the branch of the tree." Seventh, it is like saying "there is a bird's nest on the tree." Eighth, it is like saying, "Hey, bring the tree." These have two types of sounds: self-characterized sounds and general sounds. The first is the expressing of attachment, and the second is the expressing of reality, which includes names, words, and sentences as appropriate. Second, from the perspective of the object, there are two types: the sound that expresses the Dharma and the sound that expresses the possessor of the Dharma, and the sound that expresses the genus and the collection. The first is: without abandoning the other distinguishing characteristics of that object, the sound that expresses that object, in relation to that object, is the definition of the sound that expresses the possessor of the Dharma. Abandoning the other distinguishing characteristics of that object, the sound that expresses some of the characteristics of that object, in relation to that object, is the definition of the sound that expresses the Dharma. As it is said, "other distinctions are abandoned," and "in some cases, possessing fingers," etc. The second is: the definitions of the genus-expressing sound and the collection-expressing sound are, respectively: the sound that makes the general genus that follows many genus-possessors actually understood, and the sound that makes the general collection of many dust particles actually understood. For example, the sound "tree" and the sound "vase." Although the sound "tree" is a genus-expressing sound, it is not necessary to accept the general genus of tree, because its actual object of expression is established as the general genus. Writing in general meaning is because the view of the Uyukpa school is written, and refuting the views of other schools is also done accordingly, so it is not considered to contradict this. Third, from the perspective of function, there are three types of statements: non-associated exclusion, other-associated exclusion, and impossible exclusion. This has two aspects: definition and classification. The first is: respectively, the statement that shows that the object of one's own attachment is excluded from appearing in the mind and then appears; the statement that excludes attachment from appearing in the mind from the object of one's own attachment, and only allows it to appear in the mind; the statement that excludes the impossibility of the object of one's own attachment and shows its possibility. Second,
