If that concept is led by the direct perception of grasping a tree, then, the other-exclusion is the other-exclusion that is determined to be manifest, otherwise, it is the other-exclusion that is determined to be hidden. For this, again, from the mark of having flesh, when a tree is recognized on the basis of having flesh, that previous other-exclusion itself is the subsequent inferential other-exclusion that enters into truth; when grasping as existent on what is non-existent of a tree, it is the reversed other-exclusion that enters into untruth; when doubting the existence or non-existence of a tree, doubting both, it becomes the other-exclusion of doubt. Again, that dharma, is called the other-exclusion of non-affirmative negation, because of that characteristic. On the concept of grasping non-tree, the imputation that appears as non-tree, that dharma, is called determination, because it relies on the object to be negated, the tree, being determined. Similarly, for the three, other-exclusion, exclusion, and reverse, it should also be known to combine. The four, generality and so on, should also be understood through the way of following all non-trees and so on. Again, that dharma, is called the other-exclusion of non-existence and the other-exclusion of non-entity, because after determining the ability of the tree to perform its function, it is the imputation that appears as the entity of the tree not existing. For that, there are also two, among which, the other-exclusion of non-existence where the object to be negated exists on the knowable, because the object to be negated of this is the tree. It is also called the other-exclusion of non-affirming negation, because after determining the establishment of the object to be negated, it is the imputation that appears as the aspect of negation. After doing that, when the concept enters into the object, through the aspect of other-exclusion, the way of pervading all knowables can be easily realized. Third, refuting disputes, should be understood in the context of the meaning of the text. Second, there are two, characteristic and division, among which, the first is: Therefore, the other-exclusion object-possessor. And, it is established by expressing determination. Because this shows the exclusion-entry, therefore, the object-possessor that enters through the way of determining the dissimilar kinds, is the characteristic of exclusion-entry, because it is said in the Kindred Treasure: After determining the real contradiction, entering, is said to be the other-exclusion object-possessor. Because it is said like that. For that, grasping is independent. Because this shows the establishment-entry, therefore, the object-possessor that enters through the way of merely appearing without relying on determining the dissimilar kinds, is the characteristic of establis

That is how it is. Secondly, dividing the objects of elimination from the perspective of their essence, there are two types: sound and conceptualization. Dividing them according to the way they enter, there are two types: elimination entering in a reversed manner and not reversed. The first type is when the sound and conceptualization do not match the meaning, and the second type is when the sound and conceptualization match the meaning. Dividing the entering of proof, there are two types: mistaken and not mistaken. The first type is non-conceptual mistaken consciousness, and the second type is direct perception. The fourth (chapter), which is the discussion of examining appearance and elimination, has been explained. Next, regarding the ways of understanding the expressed and the expresser, there are three: refutation, establishment, and abandonment. First, there are two types: refuting that only the self-character is the expressed, and refuting that only the universal character is the expressed. First, there are two types: refuting that the object's self-character is the expressed, and refuting that the consciousness's self-character is the expressed. The first is that the non-Buddhist grammarians and the Sautrantika school of our own tradition say that the self-character of a pot is the actual expressed object of the sound "pot," because when saying "bring the pot," it is to take what can perform the function of holding water. That's what they say. This is not reasonable, because if names are truly applied to self-characters, then the old person who applies names would have to apply names to each self-character individually, but this is impossible, because self-characters are different in place, time, and form, and are infinite. Also, the actual object of the name at the time of naming does not exist at the time of speaking, because whatever truly applies names to self-characters, the self-character at the time of naming does not exist at the time of speaking. If you admit that, then at the time of naming, because the name "pot" is truly applied to the pot, then at the time of speaking, the pot will not be understood. Also, the past and future pots, as subjects, the application of the name "pot" does not exist for you, because you do not exist as the self-character of the pot. Also, relying on the sound "pot," the consciousness in which the self-character of the pot appears clearly arises, because the self-character of the pot is the actual expressed object of the sound "pot." This cannot be admitted, because even for the ear consciousness of hearing the sound, the self-character of the pot does not appear clearly, and the subsequent ascertainment does not appear clearly either. The second is that some people think that the self-character of consciousness is the actual expressed object of the expressing sound, which is also unreasonable.
