If it is said to be the cause of the two, then, the 'self' which is the subject of the proposition, should be the cause of some things like suffering, because it is not possible to say that it is impermanent. The second case is, the Sthavira school says that bondage and liberation are not reasonable for the permanent 'self', but bondage and liberation are reasonable for the 'self' that cannot be said to be either permanent or impermanent. Then, for the 'self' that cannot be said to be permanent or impermanent, as the subject of the proposition, there should not be any form of bondage and liberation, because it is not the cause of the arising and ceasing of suffering. The 'self' which is the subject of the proposition, should be permanent, because it is indestructible. This is pervasive, because the wise say that whatever's nature is indestructible, that is permanent. The Sthavira school, as the subject of the proposition, abandon this shameful view of saying that the 'self' is a thing that is neither permanent nor impermanent, and should say that the 'self' is permanent, because the 'self' is not impermanent. Fourth, establishing the antidote to the view of self and explaining the truth of the path, there are two aspects: Explaining that realizing selflessness is the antidote; Establishing the reason for being the antidote. The first aspect has three points: Explaining that habituating selflessness obtains transformation; Refuting that even if transformation is obtained, what is to be abandoned will be destroyed; Refuting the reason for not obtaining transformation. The first point is: The path of seeing selflessness that has been explained earlier in the context of explaining, as the subject of the proposition, is the path that becomes the antidote to samsara, because when you complete the practice from habituation, the stream of consciousness of the practitioner, as the basis of faults, completely transforms, thereby becoming the path of obtaining transformation that abides in the nature of realizing selflessness. The second aspect has three points: Explaining that there is no ability to destroy what is to be abandoned; Elaborating on the reason for not having the ability; Refuting the contradictory holding of the reason and eliminating the dispute. The first point is: If the mind with faults may transform into faultlessness once, but for that mind, because faults such as self-grasping and grasping at what is mine will arise again, therefore there is no complete liberation from samsara, just as the path arises for the mind with faults. Then, for the mind that has transformed from the path of habituation, as the subject of the proposition, faults will not arise again, because faults do not have the ability to arise again. The second aspect has four points: The holding of what is to be abandoned and the antidote contradict each other, and the antidote is in meaning

Homage! Because there is a difference between inherent nature and adventitiousness, there was no ability before. Even if there is ability, one can effortlessly generate an antidote. An antidote with three distinctions cannot be reversed even with effort. The first is: Why is there no ability? This mind that has been transformed by cultivating the path is the subject. You do not have the ability to generate faults such as self-grasping again, because in general, according to the Sautrāntika school, a non-erroneous consciousness that grasps an object's dharma or state is grasping the appearance of the object as it is, and the object itself, as its own nature, is also the cause of the arising of this consciousness. Like this, having a non-erroneous object, you have the nature of grasping the object. From this, self-grasping, due to adventitious causes, will deviate from grasping the state of the object, and to reverse it, one needs to rely on a valid cognition that is harmful to the cause itself. For example, for a mindstream that is unstable, arising from adventitious causes and easily separated, it is like mistaking a rope for a snake. The second is: Defilements are the subject. Through cultivating the path, the mindstream is transformed into the nature of realizing selflessness, and such a mind does not have the ability to cause harm later, because even when one has not seen selflessness before, there is no ability to inherently harm the mind. The reason is established, because the nature of the mind is luminosity, and defilements are adventitious. This shows that in the past, when there was inherent purity, there was no ability to inherently cause harm, so later, when there is adventitious freedom from defilements, there is no ability to adventitiously cause harm. If it is explained as being at the time when one has just seen selflessness, then the ability of the first two sentences has not been brought out. The third is: Even if it is assumed that there is the ability to generate faults, then for the entity of the transformed mindstream, defilements do not have the ability to last for a long time, because defilements have the essence of being able to harm them and being able to generate the realization of selflessness. Just as fire cannot last long on wet ground. This shows that during the learning stage, even if the abandonment abandoned by the worldly path is lost, it can be quickly restored. The fourth is: All harm is completely
