It is an aspiration to think that there are some special people who are proficient in the meaning of the extremely hidden, so it must be aspired. If there is no scriptural basis for the extremely hidden meaning, then it can be understood by the means of valid cognition that enters through the power of things, therefore. Third, there are four points to refute what is to be proven by the root cause: It is revealed that the meaning of the Vedas is not understood; therefore, there is no means of valid cognition to determine the meaning; refuting other answers that claim there is a proof; refuting that the meaning is determined by its own nature. The first point is: Vaiśeṣika, as the subject, from where do you understand that the meaning of the Vedas is only this? You cannot understand. Because you yourself have desire, etc., or because you have desire, etc., you cannot understand without relying on the oral instructions of others. Furthermore, because you have desire, even through the oral instructions of others, you cannot understand the meaning of the Vedas, and even relying on what is revealed by the Vedas themselves, you cannot understand the meaning of the Vedas, therefore. The second point is: If the former is admitted, then for hearing the sound "One who desires heaven should offer sacrifices to the fire", as the subject, hearing the sound "One who desires heaven should eat dog meat" is not its meaning, and only pouring it into the lamp after reciting the mantra is its meaning, by what means of valid cognition is this established? It is not established, because its meaning is not fully understood, therefore. The third point is divided into two points: Refuting establishment through worldly fame; refuting what the Vedas themselves say. The first point has four points: Fame cannot prove the hidden; it is revealed to contradict fame itself; if it is established through fame, it is self-contradictory; it is revealed that fame is the cause of doubt. The first point is: If it is said that because in worldly language, each word of the Vedas is very famous in its respective meaning, so the meaning of each word of our Vedas is certain. Then, worldly people, as the subject, by what reason can they distinguish and say that the meaning of the Vedic word that can enter into various meanings is only this, and not others? It cannot be distinguished, because there is no seeing of the meaning of the Vedas that transcends the senses. The second point is: The word of the Vedas, as the subject, your meaning is not established through worldly fame.

Because I see that what you say is not famous in the world. The heaven and goddesses in the world refer to the abode of the gods and the women there, respectively, while what you say, I see as referring to the special joy of humans and the sound of recognizing rough trees, and so on. If it is said that because of the statement "If you want heaven, offer to the fire," it is established that its meaning only refers to pouring the ghee lamp of mantra practice into the fire. Then, other statements similar to "offer to the fire" become the subject. Your meaning is completely determined, but it is impossible for a person to understand, because a person cannot understand through their own intellectual ability, or through the oral instructions of others, or through the sound itself. If you admit it, it will become a discrimination like "one can eat dog meat." Third, fame is also people, it is the language of people, and the language of people is not considered reliable. Moreover, one wants to understand the meaning of the Vedas from these words, and yet hates and loves these words, what is this? It is contradictory. If it is said, what reason is there to think that the meaning of "offer to the fire" which transcends worldly fame is to eat dog meat? Even if it becomes famous as you wish, it is not reliable because being well-known itself is not reliable. Then, what reason is there to think that the meaning of that sound is to pour the ghee lamp of mantra practice into it? There is no reason, it is the same. Fourth, worldly people, the subject. Just through your fame, it is determined that the sound of the Vedas is an expression of one meaning, but it is inevitable to raise doubts about whether it is so or not. Because in fame, it can be seen that the sounds of the Vedas have various meanings. Therefore, the Vedic sound itself, which can express various meanings, the subject. Those who have not seen the determining factor that your meaning is completely determined, will surely doubt what your meaning is, they will surely doubt. Because there is no certainty that it cannot point to other meanings besides the desired meaning. The second part is divided into two points: through the disguised Vedas, it can be proven to be man-made. If it is not man-made, then determining the meaning will create contradictions. First point: The Vedas themselves
