because it seems to be explained by combining it with the tenets of externalists, and because it is not necessary to combine the brief indication of fallacious reasoning in the Pramāṇaviniścaya, it does not appear here, but in the Pramāṇavārttika it is necessary to combine it with that, so it appears here. "If it does not exist, it does not arise, because of the absence of its nature." This also clearly clarifies this meaning. In the brief indication, it is said, "If it does not exist, it is certain not to arise, therefore, the fallacious reasoning is different from that." Because it is in the sense of identifying the fallacious reasoning that is different from "if it does not exist, it is certain not to arise." In the explanations of others, it has already been said above how the detailed explanation of fallacious reasoning does not appear to be established as an agreeable appearance when combined with anything. Those who do not find these extremely large collections of texts and only identify the four intermediate verses, and those who think that there is absolutely no detailed explanation of fallacious reasoning, are the cause of laughter. Second, some say that if two pramāṇas are contradictory, they cannot refute the meaning to be refuted, but if a scripture is contradictory, it can refute it, because the scripture pervades all meanings. If so, there are five refutations to this: mere sound, uncertain of meaning, is a fallacy; a statement with specific characteristics, unestablished, is a fallacy; establishing a true meaning with a similar sound is also a fallacy. Therefore, mere scripture is confused about the meaning to be expressed, showing internal contradiction, and thus criticizing the speaker. The first is divided into two: without connection, it is not a proof; to this, refuting contradiction with scripture. The first is: the sounds of expression are the subject of debate. From stating that it exists as a reason, it is not established that the external object of its expression exists in its own right, because the external object of its expression exists in its own right, and "if it does not exist, it does not arise, its nature is absent" exist simultaneously. Therefore, those dharmas that are the sounds of expression can show the motivational intention in the speaker's continuum, that is, they can establish, because the three aspects of such establishment are complete. The second is divided into two: straightening out scriptural statements that are suspected of being contradictory; explaining the meaning of the scripture, thereby establishing that there is no contradiction. The first is: if the sound of expression is not a valid means of cognition for external objects, then it contradicts the statement in the Compendium on Valid Cognition, "Trustworthy words are not deceptive, inference follows from the general." If so, it is not saying that it is the nature of inference, but it recognizes
