The dharma of sound and meaning is the subject. There are three aspects: existence relies on the existent, non-existence relies on the non-existent, and both rely on the knowable. Therefore, it is unreasonable to apply the word "non-existent" to the reason stated by the teacher, and there is no fault of the subject being non-existent. Because among the three sound-meanings, the sound-meaning that is primarily non-existent, when proving that it does not have the primary existent's proximate cause, not observing that it has the primary existent's proximate cause, how can that be the reason for proving it? Because the primary sound-meaning itself is not non-existent, because there is the application of the word "primary." Second, if the primary sound-meaning exists, then it contradicts the primary self-characteristic, because all sounds are ultimate, being solely directed towards the self-characteristic, therefore the sound-meaning and the self-characteristic are one. If you say so, then for the different things seen as permanent and impermanent by different observers, such as vases, etc., as the subject, the sounds of "permanent" and "impermanent" should not be applied, because the cause for the application of these two sounds is the non-existence of both permanent and impermanent. And, for the past and the unborn, as the subject, the word "present" should not be applied, because the present does not exist as a self-characteristic. Some words, as the subject, should also not become the meaning of falsehood, because they point to the self-characteristic. Because these faults will occur, therefore these sounds, as the subject, should be considered as the object of meaning appearing from conceptual mind, because any expression does not directly point to the self-characteristic. Third, if the reason stated by the teacher is not to negate the primary self-characteristic, but to negate that the primary sound-meaning itself does not exist, then, for those who deny the primary sound-meaning and want to prove non-existence with reason, according to their view, the reason for proving the primary non-existence, as the subject, the subject, the primary sound-meaning and the collection of the dharma being non-existent, should not become your thesis, because you have eliminated the basis of the dharma, which is the primary sound-meaning. If you admit, thinking that merely the dharma being non-existent is the thesis, then, the mere non-existence without the distinction of the primary dharma

The jar is the subject. Since the proponent does not accept the principal, it follows that it is not the probandum of the sign in the face of that opponent, which is unreasonable. Because the opponent is establishing it. The fourth is, if one does not deny that the sound of the principal has meaning, and that it itself is the object of application of the sound "principal," then, the principal is the subject. When you, those who admit that the sound has meaning and do not deny it, examine you with the distinction of aspects that can function and cannot function, then the object of your own self-character is what should be examined, because in general, the production of results from this self-character depends on it. The principal is the subject. What is the use of investigating and examining the meaning of your sound? It follows that it is meaningless. Because the meaning of your sound is not something that can function. For example, just as it is useless for those with desire to examine whether a eunuch is beautiful or not beautiful, it is useless. Fifth, if the meaning of sound is made the subject, then the statement in the Sutra, "Whatever dharma is examined, it is not found," which makes the self-character of the principal the subject, and because it is not found, it is stated as the sign, contradicts the Sutra. If it is said like that, then the meaning of the sound of the principal itself is the subject. It is said to be imputed, because it is the object of the consciousness of conceptual thought. The fact that the meaning of sound is not established as relying on the principal entity, that is, it is not found, this is the subject. The meaning of the sound of the principal is not dependent on the principal entity for its establishment, as the dharma of the reason for establishment, it is said by Dignāga, the proponent of reason, because it is the meaning of "not found." Extensive Explanation of Fallacious Reasons. Fourth, the extensive explanation of fallacious reasons is divided into two: marginal examination and actual meaning. The first is that, from this text onwards, U Yukpa (1050-1121) considered that the treatise was unrelated to the chapter, and only as a remaining meaning, and therefore did not combine it with the extensive explanation of fallacious reasons, and therefore most later Tibetans followed it. Because it is the remaining meaning of that treatise, it does not harm the extensive explanation of fallacious reasons in the slightest, because the four extensive explanations are all connected to the latter at the end of the former, which has already been said. If one examines the main content to be expressed from this text onwards and the place where it is located, it is also very clear, because most of the treatises from this text onwards are reasons.
