Since it cannot be established, it is not appropriate to establish existence on the basis of the principal. The second case is: If it is said that it is the same as the reason, then, if the difference of that existence, such as the existence of sound, is not taken as the basis, but only the thing itself is taken as the proof of the impermanence of sound, then that thing alone is the subject. The proof of the impermanence of sound is correct, because that proof is pervasive in the same category, and the similarity of its own kind is not lacking in the pervasiveness of its own established dharma of impermanence. The third case is: That which exists in things is the subject. How can it become the established by reason on the principal? It will not become the established, because neither the existing dharma nor the non-existing dharma that you establish on the principal can be used as a reason. In this way, the principal's own characteristic, such as the ability to function, does not exist as a dharma of the subject, because the principal's own characteristic itself does not exist. The dharma of knowledge, which depends on both existence and non-existence, is not a correct reason for establishing the existence of the principal's own characteristic in things, because the pervasiveness of your establishment is wrong. The dharma that does not exist, such as the inability to function, is the same fault, because it is contrary to existence in things. The fourth case is: Existence cannot be used as a reason, because if existence is established, there is no known desire, if both are established, the pervasiveness is wrong, and if non-existence is established, the pervasiveness is contradictory. If the nature of existence is established as pervasive by the established dharma, that is, if it is certain, then it is knowable, and the nature that is determined as pervasive from existence, such as impermanence, is also determined by the mind, then it is the dharma of knowledge, and if it is not so determined, then it is not the established dharma, because the established cannot be established by the reason of uncertain pervasiveness. Therefore, if the reason dharma is determined as pervasive and pervasive, then when this dharma is reversed, that reason must be reversed. For example, when it is determined by the language of concomitance that impermanence itself is pervaded by what is made, it is naturally determined that if it is permanent, it is pervaded by what is not made, or when it is determined by the reversed language that what is not made is pervaded by what is indestructible, it is natural that if it is made, it is pervaded by impermanence.

It is determined as such. The meaning of this treatise is that 'existence' is taken as an example that can establish the impermanence of sound, just as saying 'existence' can establish the impermanence of sound, which is clearly a continuation of the former. In the *Pramanaviniscaya*, immediately after "Destruction is like the effect and existence," it says, "Because there is no cause, there is destruction," etc., which also proves that this treatise did not appear in between. Here, explaining 'existence' as a reason is done according to the fact that the Indian terms for 'existence' and 'entity' have the same meaning. But in Tibet, the term 'existence' is used in the great treatises for both the 'existence' of exclusion and the 'existence' in meaning, so to establish impermanence, 'existence' must be understood as the entity itself. Third, explaining the reason for the independence of determining factors is divided into two parts: showing the reasoning on the positive example; applying that reasoning to others. The first part has three points: establishing the reason; establishing the property of the subject; summarizing the established meaning. The first point is: For the correct reason of the nature sign, if the single relationship related to the object to be proven is established as its own nature, then the reason mentioned earlier is possessed. How is the object to be proven, impermanence, related to its own nature? First, establishing it on the positive example: The pot is the subject. Its own destruction is related to its own nature, that is, it is related to its own nature, because its own destruction arises from its own substantial cause without depending on other causes. The second part has two points: establishing by extreme consequences; establishing by the svatantrika reason. The first point is: If it is said that the reason is not established, then the objects such as pots are the subject. It is necessarily seen as unchanging, that is, it is possible not to be destroyed, because its own destruction depends on causes other than its own cause. If it is said that there are many causes for the destruction of the pot, such as hammers, so it is necessarily destroyed, then even so, some pots are the subject. It is impossible for destruction to occur, because it is possible that they have not encountered the cause of destruction, such as hammers. If it is said that even if they encounter later causes, it is not certain that the cause alone will produce its own result, therefore, those who say that the destruction of the pot has later causes,
