The reason why the term "ཁའ་ཉིད" is not applicable to the sound "ཕན" is that there is no difference in cause and meaning between the sounds of this term. Secondly, there are four cases where the use of sounds that gather different things into one occurs by eliminating discrimination: different things appear as one and are named as a class generality; negating that the named thing is established in meaning; therefore, it is shown that the discriminating mind that grasps the general characteristic is mistaken; explaining the cause of the transmission of mistaken conceptions. The first case is from the "Self-Commentary": "Then, how are things that have a single inverted nature called generalities? Because they are not related, and also because they do not exist. What kind of generality is it, has already been explained. Things that are not mixed refer to other things, and things that are not related refer to the similarity of things that are the opposite of this." It also says "Furthermore," the meaning of which is that some people think that there are two kinds of generality: that which exists in things and that which exists in consciousness. The first refers to the fact that all vases are different from non-vases, and this similarity is called generality because it pervades all vases. The second refers to the fact that in discrimination, all vases appear in different forms, but are held as one, because similar things are mixed together. They think that the former has already been explained, and the latter will be explained here, which is unreasonable. Because what was explained before was not the same generality that pervades all vases, but the generality that distinguishes the many different aspects of one vase. Moreover, both of the generalities that you think are the same depend on different things, which will be explained below. Some people say that generality refers to being different from the things of others, and being different from different categories and unrelated things is the generality of things that are the opposite of this, therefore, only with its own characteristics, it is approximately named as generality by other names, such as "similar things depend on being different from the things of others." Others say that the difference that exists in things of different categories is distinguished and named as generality, both of these explanations are unreasonable. If the generality that was explained before refers to the self-characteristic of things named by the name of generality, then it must be admitted that the three characteristics of self-nature, concomitant characteristic, and establishment characteristic, namely characteristic, dharma, and meaning, are all self-characteristics, therefore, in this case, the necessity of elaborating the classification of excluding others will be lost. Therefore,
