Having... Aspect, that is, although it is a part or characteristic dharma of a dharmin (ཆོས་ཅན།, Sanskrit: dharmin, thing), it is not that it is not established as distinct from the dharmin. Even if it is a characteristic dharma of the dharmin, it does not hinder it from being different from the dharmin. For example, if it is said, "This horned mound is a dharmin, not a horse, because it itself is horned," then this sign, as a characteristic dharma of the dharmin, is like it is established as distinct from the dharmin. Or, for example, effort-born (རྩོལ་བྱུང་, artificial) is a dharmin. When effort-born sound becomes the impermanence to be proven, it is not a part of the dharmin, that is, it does not exist as the object to be signified. Because, previously, the example of effort-born sound, such as the sound of a conch shell, has been understood. When proving its impermanence, that statement is contrary to the object to be signified surrounding the dharmin. Obtaining the meaning of this treatise is like it has never appeared in the Land of Snows (གངས་ཅན།, referring to Tibet) before. The third is, in proving sound to be impermanent, if audible is taken as the sign, then it will become taking one aspect of the proposition as the sign. If someone asks, because there is no difference between the basis and the sign, then, in proving sound to be impermanent, the audible sign in particular should not be considered as taking one aspect of the proposition as the sign, because the two dharmas of the basis and the sign are opposite. Third, in order to understand the mode of expression, there are three explanations of the reason: revealing the necessity of dividing the aspect (ཕྱོགས་, Sanskrit: pakṣa, side) into dharmins; avoiding the absence of concomitance if the aspect is a dharma; and explaining in detail the necessity of each division. The first point is: In general, because the reasons and so on, and most of what appears therein, are dharmas of the aspect, therefore, before the meaning of the reasons and so on, the division thereof must be revealed. The dharma of the aspect has presence and absence in the similar aspect, and two cases for each. In the dissimilar aspect, there are also two cases of presence and absence. Explaining the meaning of this passage, first, what is the necessity of dividing the aspect dharmin into nine categories? The meaning of distinguishing between correct reasons and similar reasons lies in briefly summarizing them into nine categories through the division of the aspect dharmin, which is the dharmin that is spoken of. This is necessary because, in order to easily understand the mode of expression of correct reasons through inference for others. The second point is: If the sign is a dharma of the aspect, then, because it is distinguished by the dharmin, there is no ... in the example.

It is not acceptable to say "in order to enter, it exists in the favorable side," etc. If the subject of the thesis does not differentiate, then it is not reasonable as a property of the side, if you say so. There are three answers to that: explain the distinction with a definite grasp; explain the distinction without a definite grasp; apply it to the meaning of the present context. First, to show that because the subject of the reason is distinguished only by the distinction of not possessing, there is no fault as stated above. First, distinction, subject of the thesis, you have three, because you connect the word endings of the dharma, such as "only" or "itself," to different places, thereby distinguishing that the dharma is not possessed by the subject of the thesis, is possessed by others, and is completely impossible to exist. How is it? For example, like "sound is produced only," the subject of the thesis with the word ending connected together with the special dharma, distinguishes that the dharma is not possessed by the subject of the thesis, because it shows that the dharma exists only in the subject of the thesis. For example, like "sound is only audible," the subject of the thesis with the special word ending connected together, distinguishes that the dharma is possessed by others than the subject of the thesis, because it shows that the dharma exists only in that subject of the thesis. For example, like "in some places, smoke exists only," the subject of the thesis with the word ending connected with existence, distinguishes that the dharma is impossible to exist in that subject of the thesis, because it shows that the dharma exists only in that subject of the thesis. Second, then, in order to understand the meaning of distinction, is it necessary to actually connect these three word endings? If you ask that, when speaking, subject of the thesis, even if these word endings are not actually connected, it is generally understood that the meaning of these three word endings, that is, any one distinction, will be understood due to the intention of expression arising from the context of the speaker, because even if the word endings are not actually connected, all languages have the result of understanding any one of the three distinctions. The examples of these three in order are, for example, when asked whether something black is good at jumping or not, the answer is "something black is good at jumping," or, when asked which of black and having a thesis is good at jumping, the answer is "having a thesis is good at jumping," or, when asked whether blue is possible or impossible to exist on a lotus, the answer is "blue is possible to exist on a lotus."
