Having faith, the Bodhi tree is fully generated. It is said. At the confluence of rivers with saline soil, when the end of the five hundred comes, I will come in the form of a teacher. Think, 'He is me,' and at that time, generate respect for him. Thus, it is said in many sutras, tantras, and oral instructions that if one has faith and devotion, realization will arise quickly. Therefore, if one connects with faith and devotion and meditates on the Guru Yoga, the benefits are immeasurable. In the 'Two Examinations,' it says: 'The co-emergent wisdom that others cannot express, cannot be found anywhere. It is known through relying on the skillful means of the Guru and my own merit.' It is said. In the 'Collected Sutras,' it says: 'Good disciples who have respect for the Guru should always rely on wise Gurus. Why? Because the qualities of the wise arise from that.' It is said. Without a protector, one cannot cross to the other shore with a boat. Even if all qualities are fully perfected, without a Guru, one cannot reach the end of samsara. It is said. In the 'Damtsik Embellishment,' it says: 'A deity with marks and signs, even if meditated on for hundreds of thousands of eons, is not as good as remembering the Guru for a moment. One supplication to the Guru is more pleasing than a million recitations and practices.' It is said. In the 'Ultimate Practice,' it says: 'For noble disciples, the paths will arise from the mouth of the noble Guru.' It is said. In the 'Earlier Sequence,' it says: 'If someone falls from the peak of a mountain, even if they think they will not fall, they will still fall. If one finds the path of benefit through the kindness of the Guru, even if they think they will not be liberated, they will still be liberated.' It is said. Naropa said: 'The Guru is the treasury of all qualities, the Guru is the root of all Dharmas.' It is said. In the 'Ati Embellishment,' it says: 'That kind Guru, whether meditated on at the crown of the head, in the center of the heart, or at the tips of the limbs, the qualities of a thousand Buddhas will be held by that person.' It is said. Götsangpa said: 'When meditating on Guru Yoga, faults will be purified and qualities will be perfected.' It is said. Although there are many generation stage practices, there is nothing above meditating on the Guru. Although there are many recitations, there is nothing above supplication. Although there are many completion stage practices, there is nothing above transforming it into the path with wisdom. It is said. In the song of Yakdé Panchen, it says: 'In the generation stage, it is good to visualize one's own body as the deity's form, the headdress on the head'

The five Buddha families are excellent! In the completion stage, Yakde Panchen is excellent! On my crown, Rangjung Dorje is excellent! Thus it is said. Lord Sakya also said: The supreme accomplishment cannot be attained by praying to anyone other than the root guru. Common accomplishments can be attained even by praying to gurus other than the root guru. As stated in the biography of Paljung: Sons of the lineage, bodhisattvas who are completely embraced by a virtuous spiritual friend will not fall into the lower realms. Bodhisattvas who are completely protected by a virtuous spiritual friend will not fall into the hands of evil companions. Bodhisattvas who are completely cared for by a virtuous spiritual friend will not turn away from the Dharma of the Great Vehicle. Bodhisattvas who are completely embraced by a virtuous spiritual friend will completely transcend the realm of ordinary beings. Thus, it is said limitlessly that meditating on guru yoga has immeasurable benefits. That is: The guru is the embodiment of all Buddhas. Thus it is said. The guru is glorious Vajradhara. Thus it is said. The guru is the Buddha, the guru is the Dharma. Thus and so on. The guru and Vajradhara should not be seen as different. Thus it is said. By whose kindness is great bliss attained. Thus and so on. Above the unsurpassed. Thus and so on it is said. Therefore, the root guru is the embodiment of all the Three Jewels, the embodiment of all refuges. If one prays to him, seeing him as the actual Buddha Vajradhara, the blessings will enter quickly. Therefore, one should practice him as yoga, and if one relies on him, all supreme and common accomplishments will certainly arise in an instant. The way to rely on him is: One should rely on the guru through offerings, respect, service, and practice. As it is said, one should rely on him in this way. Furthermore, no matter whether the guru shows good or bad deeds, one should not give rise to wrong views, but should increase one's faith even more, thinking: "Such a guru, with such beings' dispositions and inclinations, and with such actions, uses inconceivable methods to tame those to be tamed." Whatever the guru does, one should see as good. Whatever teachings he gives, even if they are given in jest or in a joking manner, in short, even if he says things like "water and fire" or "hat and shoes," one should think that they are infallible, and whatever he says, one should regard as correct. Whatever the guru's intention may be, one should strive to accomplish it with one's own body, speech, and mind.
