第二,关于名称的意义:在印度语中是:Prātimokṣa Sūtra(梵文天城体:प्रातिमोक्ष सूत्र,梵文罗马拟音:Prātimokṣa Sūtra,汉语字面意思:别解脱经)。

Because the place is vast, there is no excessive debate. Second, regarding the meaning of the name: In Indian language, it is: Prātimokṣa Sūtra Individual Liberation Sutra). In Tibetan, it is: 《Soso Tarpa Do》(སོ་སོར་ཐར་པའི་མདོ།,汉语字面意思:Individual Liberation Sutra). One should raise questions from difficult points to discuss. That is, regarding Individual Liberation, there are two aspects: the meaning that can be expressed and the words that express it. First, one must understand from what cause it arises. According to the Vaibhāṣika school's view, the arising of conditioned phenomena requires six causes, four conditions, and five results. As stated in the scriptures: The agent cause and co-emergent, Homogeneous, corresponding, All-pervasive and maturation, Causes are considered to be of six types. Therefore, discipline does not arise from maturation, because the cause of discipline's arising does not possess the characteristics of maturation. The cause of maturation is non-virtue and tainted virtue. And it is said that it is accomplished after one lifetime. Discipline is a virtuous dharma, and it also does not arise from all-pervasiveness, because discipline does not possess the characteristics of all-pervasiveness. Its characteristic is: All-pervasive refers to afflictions. Discipline also does not arise from correspondence, because it does not possess the characteristic of correspondence. Its characteristic is: Mental events are those with the same basis. Therefore, it is unreasonable for the Vaibhāṣikas to consider discipline as form. Here there are three causes: The homogeneous cause is the arising of a similar dharma in the next moment from the previous moment. The homogeneous cause is similarity. The co-emergent cause is the old four great elements, seven sets of seven, producing new four great elements, seven sets of seven, in the form of an arrow, causing it to possess the four characteristics of conditioned phenomena. It can also arise from the agent cause. There are two types: the agent cause is empty, merely not obstructing; and the one with an agent, which also has three types: The first is the basis for causing discipline to arise in the continuum, the four great elements that continue to exist from the second moment onwards as the cause; the second is the state of being interrupted by many moments when discipline arises as the cause; and the state of the previous moment when the next moment arises is the intention of time, that is, mind as the cause; the third is the wisdom of oneself and others.

It becomes the efficient cause. For cognition, there are also its own body characteristics, and the previous perfect intention precedes. Other cognitions are specially designated by qualified Khenpos, Acharyas, and Sanghas. The condition is: According to the Vaibhashika school, there is no contradiction in being both a cause and a condition. The three causes of equal cause, simultaneous cause, and associated cause are made into one condition, and the efficient cause is made into the dominant condition. Therefore, it is said that cause is called the five causes, and the efficient cause is called the dominant. 1 This is what it says. The condition is from two. The five results are considered to be the efficient result, that is, by whose power what is produced, that result is produced by the action of the person. 2 This is what it says. Then, the nature of the Pratimoksha vows is: to prevent harm to others from things with a root. That is also, according to the Vaibhashika school, included in the non-revealing form, invisible and obstructive, in the realm of Dharma and the sphere of Dharma. As it is said: Vows and non-vows and others, 1 and also the distracted and mindless, the virtuous and non-virtuous followers, the four great elements as the cause, that is called non-revealing. 2 This is what it says. However, the Sautrantika school considers the mind of renunciation to be virtuous. The Chittamatra school considers the mind of renunciation to be virtuous with seeds. The Pratimoksha vows are divided into eight types by name: The four assemblies are: the Upasaka parents in the lay aspect, and the Bhikshu parents in the ordained aspect. The names are the Upavasatha Upasaka parents, the Shramanera parents, the Shikshamana, and the Bhikshu parents. There are four types of substances: Shramanera, Bhikshu, Upasaka, and Upavasatha, these four. If a Bhikshu changes her name, she is called Bhikshuni. If a Shramanerika and a Bhikshuni change their names, they are called Shramanera and Bhikshu, as it is said: 3 Pratimoksha is called eight types, and there are four types of substances, because the name changes from the name, so these differences are not contradictory. Upavasatha is for one day, on top of the ten precepts of Shramanera, plus not taking gold and silver, not singing and dancing, not wearing garlands, etc. From Upasaka to completion is for as long as life lasts. There are also six or seven types of Upasaka: Upasaka who holds the three refuges, etc.
