May whoever obtains something like a young child, realize the truth of all things in the world, and quickly go to the realm of the Sugatas! This is the dedication. Because I, Chandrakirti, have expounded the excellent system of the two truths, which is approved by the teacher Nagarjuna and is not inverted, may this merit pervade all directions without exception, and may the nature of emptiness, like the stars of autumn without clouds, become white, away from the blue dirt stained by sudden afflictions in the sky of the mind; or like the nature of afflictions and thoughts, whoever obtains something like a jewel on the neck of the snake of the mind, may he realize the reality of all dharmas of all things in the world, and quickly go to the realm of the happily departed. In the degenerate age of strife, in a time of even greater degeneration, appearing in the northern region, holding the great practice of concealment, reaching the peak of the profound Vajrayana doctrine through the practice of the Avadhuti, I respectfully prostrate and take refuge in the great accomplished one, the great Buddha Nirvana-accomplished one! After saying this, relying on the immaculate oral instructions, I slightly reveal the excellent system of the non-extreme Middle Way approved by the teacher Nagarjuna and his son, without concealing anything, and proclaim it after greatly satisfying the minds of the oath-bound protectors of the heroes and dakinis. For the uninitiated, this is an extremely terrifying place, and the fearless Dharma principles, which are like an inexhaustible ocean, how can they be recorded in writing? Only through heart-to-heart transmission can it be realized, and there is no other way. Therefore, if those of the other-emptiness view wish to start from the two truths and, in the principles of the basis, path, and result, how do they refute other schools and establish their own? Then it should be said as follows. To this, the teacher Well-Protected said: Thus, in the principle of the two truths, if the ultimate truth is established by its own power, then it is not established in either of the two truths; however, the conventional truth (389b) is established by its own power, although it is not established in the ultimate truth, in the conventional terminology, the conventional truth is established by its own power. On this basis, one can make conventional establishments such as existence and non-existence, and reasonableness and unreasonableness.
