There is a fault. In this way, if emptiness, which is the definitive meaning of the scriptures, as well as the wisdom of the three, hearing, thinking, and meditating correctly, and the wisdom of the Buddhas, become the cause of the destruction of things in name, then this is both unreasonable and contrary to the promise. According to the view of the Madhyamaka-Prasangika, the emptiness of all dharmas is not like the emptiness fabricated by conceptual thought, which considers that dharmas are actually not empty, but are contemplated as empty by the mind. It is not like a vase being repaired with a hammer, not empty when not examined, but becoming empty when examined with reason. Similarly, it is not like being not empty when the wisdom of the noble ones has not arisen, but becoming empty when it has arisen. It is also not like a lamp being extinguished, existing before and disappearing later. (328b) It is also not like a vase being empty of water, empty of other objects to be negated. It is also not like a rabbit's horn, completely non-existent. Because these are not empty by their own nature, but are emptiness analyzed by the mind, emptiness of annihilation, and temporary emptiness, they cannot serve as the basis for the path of liberation and the antidote to the two obscurations. So, what is emptiness? These dharmas from form to omniscience, from the beginning, are not the four extremes of existence and non-existence, nor the eight extremes of arising and ceasing, nor the fourteen extremes of permanence and impermanence, nor any extreme of elaboration such as emptiness and non-emptiness, truth and falsehood. This is called emptiness, suchness, thusness, etc., but is merely a designation. This can serve as the basis for the path of liberation and the antidote to obscurations, because the obscurations of afflictions and the obscurations of knowledge arise from attachment to things. When a yogi realizes that all dharmas are free from all elaboration from the beginning, he can completely reverse the attachment to things. Therefore, in name, this emptiness of all dharmas being empty of their own nature is the antidote to eliminating all obscurations when one abides in equanimity in the self-existing nature of all knowable objects, the sun that destroys the darkness of inverted views, the supreme medicine that eliminates the poisonous snake of grasping at reality, the essence of all the Buddha's teachings, the single path traversed by all noble beings, the Sugata

Their body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities, the inexhaustible wheel of ornaments, are the supreme cause for accomplishing all freedoms. Therefore, those who sincerely desire liberation and omniscience should diligently engage in listening, contemplating, and meditating on this. Those who, holding this profound meaning in a reversed manner, engage in denouncing it, are the Jonang Dolpopa the Great. He says: The Madhyamaka school accepted by Chandrakirti is inferior, saying, "The aggregates, when analyzed, are emptiness, like a tree on water, without essence." Thus, the Bhagavan prophesied in the future and forbade it, and because this school is the Dharma of the time of disputes, the Madhyamaka that I accept is the supreme Dharma of the perfect age, the Shambhala school with lineage. This school, apart from the Dharma that can and cannot be made, has no other supreme ultimate truth, because it cannot be made or done. It is the self-empty Dharma of the conventional, not relying on anything, but independent. The Dharma-nature, the ultimate truth, Suchness, is unconditioned, but also has two truths, Dharma-nature Dharma, samsara and nirvana, existence and non-existence, truth and falsehood, emptiness and non-emptiness, faults and merits. The Dharma's nature, the conventional truth, can be made and done, but also has two in this way. Other-empty Dharma is true as it appears to the mind, but all self-empty Dharmas are not true as they appear to the mind. Therefore, conventional Dharma is contradictory and flawed, so one must acknowledge the distinction between truth and falsehood, etc., without contradiction. But ultimate Dharma is without contradiction and without fault, so all truth and falsehood (329b) contradictions are abandoned in the ultimate truth, so there is no distinction, but equality and one taste. Thus, when it is said that all Dharmas are equal, it does not mean that all self-empty and other-empty Dharmas are equal, but that the Dharma-nature Dharma possessed by the two truths is equal. Because the ultimate truth, Suchness, is constant, it eliminates the extreme of annihilation, and because the conventional truth is impermanent, it eliminates the extreme of permanence, so this way of abandoning permanence and annihilation is like an eagle cutting through the sky and looking, while others' observations are like the dance of a butterfly. Thus it is said. That school is the teachings and accomplishments of the Thus-Gone One.
