Since pramana also cannot be established, therefore, in order not to be pleased to proclaim that all such elaborations have been pacified, being in an indestructible state of nature, such a profound meaning of Madhyamaka has not been understood, and even someone like glorious Shakya Chokden seems to explain it in this way. In the Svātantrika's own system, the nature of conventional truth cannot establish the nature, and they accept that the true nature is the nature of emptiness, the ultimate truth, which is truly established. Moreover, in the intermediate stage of negating the self, if this is not accepted, then the emptiness of the nature of selflessness will not be understood as the ultimate truth. Even so, in the stage of refuting all views, they do not want to establish it as the nature of ultimate truth. To say so is unreasonable. Because when the Prāsaṅgika engages in suchness, even in name, who would think that the nature, truth, essence, and self, etc., established by their own system, are established on the level of ultimate truth? Such nature and truth are not established in either of the two truths, and it is emphatically stated that the self is denied in phenomena and persons. Like you, in the stage of negating the self, you deny truth and self in the phenomenal conventional dharma, and then establish self in the dharmata, the ultimate truth. Such a position is not accepted by the Prāsaṅgika in the intermediate stage of negating the self. If you accept that, then the Prāsaṅgika would then accept the Cittamatra's doctrine of mere appearance, and if you also accept that, then the Cittamatra who speaks of mere appearance must accept the Madhyamaka who speaks of self-emptiness, and the Madhyamaka who speaks of no-self-nature, the ultimate truth divided by the two truths, the nature of things (324b) is established as true by its own nature. Such a speaker of no-self-nature has not appeared before in the land of India and the land of snow, so what kind of speaker of no-self-nature is this who speaks of essence and nature? Also, if you establish the nature of conventional truth as non-true, as the nature of ultimate truth, then have you forgotten that the Prāsaṅgika's characteristic is that they refute true establishment and do not establish non-truth? Therefore, in the Prāsaṅgika's own system, truth

Saying that one must distinguish between wanting to establish and not wanting to establish is not a posture of expertise arising from meticulously distinguishing the appearances of the two truths in terminology. Rather, it is because one sees that in the profound scriptures of Madhyamaka, sometimes both truths are said to be without inherent existence, and sometimes it seems that ultimate truth has inherent existence, which appears contradictory, yet they converge on one basis. Therefore, attempting to change this basis is the darkness of a fool hoping to eliminate this contradiction. If, in the intermediate refutation of self, ultimate truth has inherent existence, then in the refutation of all views, it will not become without inherent existence. If, in the intermediate refutation of self, there is no inherent existence, then to view it as having inherent existence is a wrong view. Even if the inherent existence of ultimate truth is established there, it cannot be established by valid cognition. So, how is ultimate truth established in the intermediate refutation of self? Delve into your mind and think carefully. Therefore, the great teacher Chandrakirti said this: For persons and phenomena, etc., which are the nature of conventional truth, the beginningless co-emergent ignorance, relying on the aggregates, makes the person the basis of karmic results, and relying on elements such as earth, makes forms, etc., generate self-grasping consciousness. The nature of believing that these exist is the inherent existence and essence of persons and phenomena. The inverted clinging that presumes they exist truthfully is precisely the object to be refuted by the correct reasoning of wisdom from hearing and thinking. Such grasping at reality is the object to be refuted by the path of meditative realization. Therefore, the object to be refuted by reason and the path is precisely this object of viewing the conventional truth, which is without inherent existence, as inherently existent or real in a reversed way. Just like this, it is written extensively and clearly in these root texts and commentaries. The great Tsongkhapa and others are still searching for other aspects to be refuted elsewhere. This is like seeing a thief hiding in a forest far away, but searching for things in the nearby meadow. Who would put effort into such fruitless and painful debates that are useless for seeking liberation? Furthermore, the great Tsongkhapa, if one adds the distinctions of unfabricated, independent, and unchanging to the clinging to true establishment, then the scope of the view of truth becomes narrow.
