No. Therefore, the nature of all phenomena is attributed to emptiness. The Blessed One extensively stated that whether the Tathāgatas appear or not, the dharma-nature of phenomena remains, so "dharma-nature" exists. Dharma-nature is the nature of the eyes and so on. That nature is uncreated, not dependent on others, and is the self-nature to be realized by wisdom free from ignorance, the ultimate truth. If one asks whether it exists, is it asked from the perspective of investigation or the vision of the noble ones, or without investigation, from the perspective of the world that speaks of conventional dependent origination? If it is the former, what answer can be given since it is beyond speech, thought, and expression? If it is the latter, who has said that it does not exist? No one has said so. If one says it does not exist, why should Bodhisattvas practice the path of pāramitās? Because the dharma-nature of phenomena, namely self-nature emptiness, does not exist. If it is not so, the dharma-nature emptiness of all phenomena exists, and to realize it, Bodhisattvas strive with hundreds of hardships. Therefore, in the Ārya Ratnamegha Sūtra, it says: 'Son of good family, the ultimate truth is unborn, unceasing, indestructible, uncoming, ungoing, not to be expressed by letters, not to be fully described by letters, and not to be realized by elaboration. Son of good family, the ultimate truth is inexpressible, peaceful, and to be individually realized by the noble ones. Son of good family, for the ultimate truth, whether the Tathāgatas appear or not, why do Bodhisattvas shave their hair and beards, wear robes, and with true faith go forth from home to homelessness? And having gone forth, in order to attain that Dharma, they strive diligently like fire in their hair or clothes, and abide in the indestructible. Son of good family, if the ultimate truth did not exist, then the pure conduct would become meaningless, and the appearance of the Tathāgatas would become meaningless.' Because that ultimate truth exists, Bodhisattvas are called those who are skilled in the ultimate truth.

As it is said. Furthermore, if one thinks that it is contradictory to not accept even a little bit of inherent existence of things, and to assert the nature of emptiness that is unartificial and independent, then such a thought is due to not understanding the intention of the Madhyamaka treatises. If objects such as the eye were inherently existent as perceived by children, then even inverted consciousness would realize it, and celibacy would become meaningless. It is because they are not inherently existent that celibacy becomes meaningful. Moreover, the master Chandrakirti said that the absence of inherent existence, the emptiness of things such as the eye by their own nature, is said to be inherent existence. Although this is not established by the reasoning established by the Madhyamaka school itself (322a), but as analyzed by other schools that speak of dependent origination in conventional truth, they assert that unartificial and independent emptiness is the nature of all phenomena. The nature seen by children is an artificial nature, so relying on the unartificial nature, it cannot be established as a true nature. And the unartificial nature itself is not something that can be seen by children. Therefore, with this reasoning, one refutes other schools that claim that conventional truth contradicts dependent origination. Merely those other schools that speak of dependent origination in conventional truth, in name, in order to satisfy others, when they have to say that emptiness without inherent existence is inherent existence, if there is a concern that clinging to elaboration will remain, then when analyzing that inherent existence with the reasoning of those other schools that speak of dependent origination in conventional truth, the nature of emptiness, that is, the ultimate truth, is neither existent nor non-existent, because it is itself peaceful. Just like the fire that burns firewood, it burns both the firewood and the fire itself, and finally turns both the fire and the firewood into ashes. Therefore, that inherent existence that is called the inherent existence of emptiness is neither existent by its own nature nor non-existent. Because in the conventional, the artificial nature of truth cannot be established as true, so in the ultimate, the unartificial nature of truth cannot be established either. Even so, at first
