The eye is empty of its own nature. Similarly, the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind should also be explained as emptiness. Therefore, the own-nature of the six sense sources, such as the eye, which is originally empty, that very absence of own-nature, as a subject of debate, must be accepted as such in the unanalyzed worldly convention, when establishing it in relation to the two truths. Because those Madhyamikas who speak of dependent origination as it is and practice the worldly convention school, when establishing the two truths without analysis, following the non-inverted fame of the terms of existence and non-existence of own-nature, they see the absence of own-nature in the eye and the other six as having own-nature and establish it as such. If we follow that, in conventional truth, if just a thing or a dharma has own-nature, it must be something that is permanent and unchanging. And that own-nature, as a subject of debate, is acceptable in conventional truth with respect to the ultimate truth aspect of the emptiness of the eye's own-nature. As a subject of debate, the eye is born from causes and conditions, and because it depends on others, the object seen by the eye is the changing aspect of conventional truth, and that is not acceptable even in conventional truth. (p. 320) "Permanent" is akūṭastha (Sanskrit: अकूटस्थ, Romanization: akūṭastha, literal meaning: non-aggregate place). Kūṭa (Sanskrit: कूट, Romanization: kūṭa, literal meaning: aggregate) is the collection of causes and conditions, stha (Sanskrit: स्थ, Romanization: stha, literal meaning: abiding) is abiding, and a (Sanskrit: अ, Romanization: a, literal meaning: non) means to prevent. Therefore, the own-nature of the emptiness of the eye's own-nature is permanent, that is, it is not abiding in the collection, because it is not made by causes and conditions, and it does not depend on others. Moreover, the inner eye and so on, from the causes and conditions of own-nature, produce the inner result of own-nature—the eye—because of emptiness, it is without own-nature, so it will abide for a little while and then change, decay, that is, it is not impermanent. Regarding the meaning of the sutra on not abiding in permanence, the Twenty-Five Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita Sutra (nyi khri snang ba) says: "Among them, kūṭa (Sanskrit: कूट, Romanization: kūṭa, literal meaning: aggregate) is the collection, it exists in it, because the own-nature of existence cannot be seen, therefore akūṭastha (Sanskrit: अकूटस्थ, Romanization: akūṭastha, literal meaning: non-aggregate place) is not abiding in the collection. How will such a thing decay? Therefore, it is not decaying, because the dharma-nature of no birth and no cessation is its own-nature." It says. Its meaning is that, in conventional truth, emptiness is the own-nature of all dharmas, and the own-nature of all dharmas is emptiness, which is reasonable, because all dharmas have dharma

Because nothing has newly created its own nature, and ultimately it will not change, and because one will not be mistaken about that reality at any time. Therefore, as it is said: It is not reasonable for self-nature to arise from causes and conditions. That which arises from causes and conditions, self-nature will become fabricated. How can self-nature be called fabricated? Self-nature is uncreated and does not depend on others. So it is said. (320b) Thus, in the treatise of the teacher, it is said: From the characteristics of non-fabrication and non-dependence, do you acknowledge a special self-nature? For the eye and so on, not only in the ultimate truth but also in the conventional truth, because of viewing self-nature in a reversed way, thinking that the eye itself is not empty, that self-nature is self-grasping, that it is an object that generates knowledge, and that it is truly existent, in order to dispel that reversed self-nature in front of these people, the eye itself is empty, and that emptiness's self-nature is non-reversed, which is recognized in the conventional interdependent world, abiding in the world itself, and is clarified by the Bhagavan. If one does not analyze in this way, but uses the terms of bondage and liberation, when establishing the self-nature of its basis, the two truths, one merely conforms to that recognition and repeats the special self-nature. For the truth that is inherently without self-nature in the conventional, one falsely establishes it as the ultimate truth, therefore the very absence of self-nature is the non-reversed self-nature of the two truths. And the self-nature that is established by self-nature cannot be self-nature in either of the two truths. So it is said. Although that statement cannot be established even if analyzed, if one does not analyze in this way, then the recognition of the world that speaks of other-dependence is reasonable, and through the analysis of establishing non-self-nature as self-nature, the view of the worldlings who do not speak of interdependence, who establish self-nature as self-nature, is unreasonable, and after analysis, in order to not contradict the conventional interdependent world, one speaks. If one establishes in this way, then the two truths of interdependence and the terms of the world of samsara and nirvana (321a) will not become extinct in the eyes of those who do not analyze. Therefore, when the Madhyamikas say that all phenomena are emptiness, one need not be afraid and hate them because they say that all things do not exist.
